17:1 Յաղագս Շամիրամայ, թէ է՛ր աղագաւ կոտորեաց զորդիս իւր. եւ թէ ո՛րպէս փախստական լինի ի Զրադաշտէ մոգէ ի Հայս, եւ մեռանի ի Նինուասայ որդւոյ իւրմէ:
| 17:1 Concerning Semiramis, why she killed her sons, how she fled from the magus Zoroaster to Armenia and was put to death by her son Ninuas:

17:2 Սա հանապազ յամառնայինսն ի խաղալն իւրում ի կողմանս հիւսիսոյ ի քաղաքն ամարաստանի զոր շինեաց ի Հայս` կողմնապետ եւ վերակացու Ասորեստանի եւ Նինուէի թողու զԶրադաշտ մոգ եւ նահապետ Մարաց:
| 17:2 As she continually went in the summers to the northern regions to the summer resort that she had built in Armenia, she left as her governor and prefect for Assyria and Nineveh Zoroaster, the magus and leader of the Medes:

17:3 Եւ զայս այսպէս բազում ժամանակս կարգեալ Շամիրամայ` ամենեւին հաւատայ նմա յարդարել զիւր իշխանութիւնն:
| 17:3 And Semiramis, having made this arrangement over a long period of time, entrusted him with the whole government of her empire:

17:4 Եւ բազում անգամ յանդիմանեալ յորդւոց իւրոց վասն սաստիկ եւ վաւաշ պոռնկական բարուց իւրոց` կոտորէ զամենեսեան, եւ ապրի կրտսերագոյնն միայն, որ է Նինուաս:
| 17:4 Since she was often reproached by her sons for her exceedingly lascivious and obscene character, she killed them all; only the youngest, Ninuas, was saved:

17:5 Բարեկամաց եւ հոմանեաց իւրոց պարգեւելով զամենայն իշխանութիւն եւ զգանձս` ոչ ինչ վասն որդւոց իւրոց փոյթ յանձին ունէր:
| 17:5 On her friends and paramours she bestowed all her power and treasures, having no concern for her own sons:

17:6 Քանզի եւ այրն նորա Նինոս ոչ, որպէս ասի, մեռեալ թաղեցաւ ի նմանէ ի Նինուէ յարքունիսն, այլ իմացեալ զախտասէր բարս նորա եւ զչարասէր, թողեալ զթագաւորութիւնն՝ փախստական անկանէր ի Կրետէ:
| 17:6 Her husband Ninos had not, as is said, died and been buried by her in the palace at Nineveh, but having realized her pernicious and evil way of life had abandoned his kingdom and fled to Crete:

17:7 Իսկ ի հասակ եւ ի միտս հասեալ որդւոց նորա` յիշեցուցանեն նմա զայս ամենայն, կարծելով ցածուցանել զնա ի դիւական պակշոտութենէն, եւ աւանդել զիշխանութիւնն եւ զգանձս` որդւոց իւրոց:
| 17:7 But when her sons attained maturity and understanding they reminded her of all this, thinking that they would make her desist from her demonic passion and that she would hand over the power and treasures to her sons:

17:8 Ընդ որ առաւել զայրագնեալ` սատակէ զամենեսեան. եւ մնայ միայն, որպէս վերագոյնն ասացաք, Նինուաս:
| 17:8 But at this she was even more incensed and slaughtered them all; only Ninuas remained, as we said above:
|
17:9 Իսկ ի լինել սխալանաց ինչ Զրադաշտի առ տիկինն, եւ հակառակութեան ի ներքս անկանել, պատերազմ ի վերայ նորա յարուցանէ Շամիրամ. քանզի բռնանալ ի վերայ ամենայնի խորհէր մարն:
| 17:9 Then when Zoroaster acted amiss with regard to the queen and discord broke out between them, Semiramis incited war against him because the Mede planned to become tyrant overall:

17:10 Եւ ի սաստկանալ պատերազմին` փախստական լինի Շամիրամ յերեսաց Զրադաշտի ի Հայս:
| 17:10 And at the height of the war Semiramis fled from Zoroaster to Armenia:
|
17:11 Աստ ժամանակ վրէժխնդրութեան պատեհ գտեալ Նինուասայ` սպանանէ զմայրն եւ ինքն թագաւորէ ի վերայ Ասորեստանի եւ Նինուէի:
| 17:11 There Ninuas found an opportunity for vengeance and killed his mother, and he himself ruled over Assyria and Nineveh:

17:12 Ահա ասացաք եւ յաղագս մահուանն Շամիրամայ, թէ ուստի՛ եւ ո՛րպէս:
| 17:12 So we have explained the cause and circumstances of Semiramis’ death:
