15:1 Դիմումն ի մեզ Պոմպէի Հռոմայեցւոց զաւրավարի եւ առնուլն զՄաժաք, եւ մահն Միհրդատայ:
| 15:1 The attack on us of Pompey, the Roman general; the capture of Mazhak and the death of Mithridates:

15:2 Յայնմ ժամանակի Պոմպէոս Հռոմայեցւոց զաւրավար զաւրաւք բազմաւք եկեալ հասեալ ի Միջերկրեայս` զՍկաւրոս սպարապետ իւր յԱսորիս առաքէ` տալ պատերազմ ընդ Տիգրանայ:
| 15:2 At that time Pompey, the Roman general, arrived in Asia Minor with a large army and sent his commander Scaurus to Syria to wage war against Tigran:

15:3 Որոյ եկեալ, եւ ոչ պատահեալ Տիգրանայ, քանզի էր դարձեալ յիւր աշխարհն վասն խուճապանաց յեղուզակին:
| 15:3 He came there but did not meet Tigran, for the latter had returned to his own country on account of the terror caused by the brigand:

15:4 Անցեալ Սկաւրոսի ի Դամասկոս, եւ տեսեալ զքաղաքն առեալ ի Մետեղայ եւ ի Ղուղայ` զնոսա հալածեալ անտի, ինքն ի Հրէաստան փութայր հասանել ի վերայ Արիստաբուղի, յաւգնականութիւն եղբաւր նորա երիցու, Հիւրկանու քահանայապետի, որդւոյ Աղեքսանդրի:
| 15:4 so Scaurus passed on to Damascus. Finding that city taken by Metellus and Lullus, he expelled them; then he hastened to Judaea against Aristobulus to the help of his elder brother Hyrcanus, the high priest, son of Alexander:

15:5 Իսկ Պոմպէի պատերազմեալ ընդ Միհրդատայ` տեսանէ սաստիկ ընդդիմակացութիւն եւ ահագին մարտս, եւ վտանգի յոյժ. սակայն բազմութեանն յաղթեալ` փախստական լինի Միհրդատ ի կողմանս Պոնտոսի:
| 15:5 But Pompey in his war with Mithridates met with strong resistance and terrible battles, and he was in great danger. Nonetheless, his superior numbers gained the victory, and Mithridates fled to the regions of Pontus:

15:6 Յորմէ իբրեւ զերծեալ Պոմպէոս, որում ակն ոչ ունէր, եւ առեալ զՄաժաք, եւ կալեալ զորդի նորա զՄիհրդատ` նստուցանէ զաւր ի քաղաքին. ինքն ոչ հետամուտ լինի նմա, այլ ընդ Ասորիս ի Հրէաստան փութայ հասանել:
| 15:6 Pompey, now unexpectedly freed from him, captured Mazhak, seized his son Mithridates, and put a garrison in the city. But he himself did not pursue Mithridates but hastened through Syria to Judaea:

15:7 Եւ ի ձեռն հաւրն Պիղատոսի Պոնտացւոյ զՄիհրդատ սպանանէ թունաւոր դեղովք:
| 15:7 Through the father of Pontius Pilate he had Mithridates murdered by poison:

15:8 Վկայէ այսմ բանիս եւ Յովսեպոս ի ճառին, որ վասն ապրսամին պատմէ, այսպէս ասելով. «Պոմպէի հուպ յԵրիքով հասանեն աւետիք մահուանն Միհրդատայ:
| 15:8 To this Josephus bears witness in the passage where he speaks about balsam, in these words: “ The news of the death of Mithridates reached Pompey near Jericho:
