25:1 Գժտութիւն ընդ Հերովդի Արշամայ եւ ակամայ հնազանդութիւն:
| 25:1 The quarrel between Herod and Arsham, and the involuntary submission of Arsham:

25:2 Յետ այսորիկ եղեւ խռովութիւն ի մէջ Հերովդի արքայի Հրէաստանի եւ մերոյ արքային Արշամայ:
| 25:2 After this there occurred a dissension between Herod, king of Judaea, and our King Arsham:
|
25:3 Քանզի Հերովդէս, յետ բազում գործոց արութեանց, ձեռնամուխ լինի ի բարեգործութիւնս, շինուածս բազումս առնելով յոլով քաղաքաց, սկսեալ ի Հռոմէ մինչեւ ցԴամասկոս:
| 25:3 Herod, after many valiant deeds, devoted himself to works of philanthropy, constructing many buildings in many cities from Rome to Damascus:

25:4 Խնդրեաց ի յԱրշամայ բազմութիւն արանց անարուեստից գործաւորաց, որովք զԱսորւոց զԱնտիոքայ զանանց եւ զանկոխ հրապարակսն ի խոհերացն եւ ի տղմոց` լցցէ:
| 25:4 He asked Arsham for a multitude of unskilled workers to fill in the public squares of Antioch in Syria, which were impassable and impracticable because of the mud and mire:

25:5 Զոր չառեալ յանձն Արշամայ` զաւրս ժողովէ ընդդիմանալ Հերովդի. եւ ի ձեռն հրեշտակաց յղէ առ կայսրն ի Հռոմ, զի մի՛ զնա ընդ իշխանութեամբ Հերովդի արասցէ:
| 25:5 But Arsham refused and gathered his army to oppose Herod. Through messengers he sent word to the emperor in Rome not to place him under the authority of Herod:

25:6 Իսկ կայսրն ոչ միայն զԱրշամ չազատէ յիշխանութենէն Հերովդի, այլ եւ զամենայն Միջերկրեայս նմա հաւատայ:
| 25:6 But the emperor not only did not free Arsham from Herod’s authority but he also entrusted to the latter all Anatolia:

25:7 Յայնմ ժամանակի Հերովդէս զաներ Աղեքսանդրի որդւոյ իւրոյ, որ էր ի հաւրէ Տիմոնէ եւ ի մաւրէ ի թագաւորութենէ Մարաց, ի զաւակէ Դարեհի Վշտասպեանց, ընդ իւրով ձեռամբ թագաւոր Միջերկրեայցն կացուցանէր, առեալ իւր ի սպասաւորութիւն գունդ ի Գաղատացւոց եւ ի Պոնտացւոց:
| 25:7 At that time Herod, having taken into his service troops from Galatia and Pontus, established as king of Anatolia under his own authority the father- in- law of his son Alexander, who on his father’s side was descended from Timon and on his mother’s side from the Median royal line from the seed of Darius Vshtaspean:

25:8 Տեսեալ զայն Արշամայ` երկրպագէ Հերովդի իբրեւ տեառն ամենայնիւ իսկ, տալով նմա զոր խնդրէրն գործաւորս. որովք լցեալ զհրապարակսն անտիոքացւոց քսան վտաւանաւ երկայնութեամբ, յատակեաց սպիտակ կճեայ սալայատակաւք, զի ուխտաւորք յատակացն դիւրագոյնս կարգիցին, առ ոչինչ վնաս առնել քաղաքին:
| 25:8 When Arsham saw this he paid homage to Herod as sovereign lord and gave him the workers he had requested. With their help he filled in the public squares of Antioch over a length of twenty stadia, and he paved them with white marble paving stones so that the torrents might be more easily directed over the pavement to avoid damage to the city:

25:9 Բայց Արշամայ վարեալ զթագաւորութիւնն ամս քսան, վախճանեցաւ:
| 25:9 Arsham died after ruling for twenty years:
