42:1 Վասն ձեռակերտին, որ կոչի Երուանդակերտ:
| 42:1 Concerning the town called Eruandakert:

42:2 Քաղցր է ինձ ասել եւ յաղագս գեղեցիկ դաստակերտին Երուանդակերտի, զոր յաւրինեաց նոյն ինքն Երուանդ գեղեցիկ եւ չքնաղ յաւրինուածովք:
| 42:2 It is pleasant for me to speak also about the beautiful town of Eruandakert, which the same Eruand embellished with beautiful and charming constructions:

42:3 Քանզի զմիջոց հովտին մեծի լնու մարդկութեամբ եւ պայծառ շինուածովք, լուսաւոր որպէս ական բիբ:
| 42:3 He filled the center of the great valley with inhabitants and splendid buildings, shining like the pupil of an eye:

42:4 Իսկ շուրջ զմարդկութեամբն` ծաղկոցաց եւ հոտարանաց կազմութիւն, որպէս շուրջ զբբովն զայլ բոլորակութիւն ական:
| 42:4 Around the inhabited area were arranged gardens of sweet- smelling flowers, as the circle of the eye surrounds the pupil:

42:5 Իսկ զբազմութիւն այգեստանոյ` իբր զարտեւանանց խիտ եւ գեղեցիկ ծիր. որոյ հիւսիսային կողմանն դիր կարակնաձեւ` արդարեւ գեղաւոր կուսից յաւնից դարաւանդաց համեմատ:
| 42:5 A multitude of vineyards resembled the beautiful crescent of thick lashes; on the northern side its curved form truly imitated the arching brows of charming maidens:

42:6 Իսկ ի հարաւոյ հարթութիւն դաշտաց` ծնաւտից պարզութեան գեղեցկութիւն:
| 42:6 To the south the level plain recalled the beauty of smooth cheeks:

42:7 Իսկ գետն բերանացեալ դարաւանդաւք ափանցն` զերկթերթիսն նշանակէ շրթունս:
| 42:7 The river with its high banks resembled a mouth with matching lips:

42:8 Եւ այսպիսի գեղեցկութեան դիր` անքթթելի իմն գոգցես ի բարձրաւանդակ թագաւորանիստն զհայեցուածսն ունի. եւ արդարեւ բերրի եւ թագաւորական դաստակերտն:
| 42:8 Such was the beauty of the site that looked with unblinking eye, you might say, up to the heights of the royal residence, a truly fertile and majestic estate:

42:9 Զայս ամենայն զգործեցեալսն Երուանդայ պարգեւէ մեծն Տրդատ մարդկան ազգին Կամսարականաց, որպէս մտերմաց եւ արեան կցորդաց ազգին Արշակունեաց. զոր յիւրում տեղւոջն պատմեսցուք:
| 42:9 All these constructions of Eruand’s Trdat the Great bestowed on the Kamsarakan family as faithful allies and blood relatives of the Arsacid family. This we shall describe in its own place:

42:10 Բայց ասեն զԵրուանդայ` ըստ հմայից դժնեայ գոլ ական հայեցուածով. վասն որոյ ընդ այգանալ աչալրջացն սովորութիւն ունել սպասաւորացն արքունի` վէմս որձաքարեայս ունել ընդդէմ Երուանդայ, եւ ի հայեցուածոցն դժնութենէ ասեն պայթել որձաքար վիմացն:
| 42:10 But they say of Eruand that through magic he had the evil eye. So, the royal servants who attended him at daybreak had the habit of placing hard stones opposite Eruand. And they say that these hard stones split from the malevolence of his glance:

42:11 Բայց այս կա՛մ եղիցի սուտ եւ առասպել, եւ կամ դիւականս ինչ առ իւր ունել զաւրութիւնս, զի այսպէս հայեցուածոցն անուամբ վնասեսցէ զորս կամի:
| 42:11 But this is either false and a fable or else he had some demonic power in himself so that he could harm those he wished in this fashion by the mere repute of his gaze:
