46:1 Պատերազմաւ պարտեալ Արշակ ի Խոսրովայ` վախճանի հիւանդութեամբ:
| 46:1 Arshak, defeated in war by Khosrov, dies of an illness:

46:2 Թէպէտ եւ ոչ եղեն ձեռնտու Շապուհ եւ Արկադ Խոսրովայ եւ Արշակայ, լինել զաւրավիգն աւգնականութեան առ ի տալ ընդ միմեանս պատերազմ, սակայն եւ ոչ արգելին զնոսա:
| 46:2 Although Shapuh and Arcadius neither gave help to Khosrov and Arshak nor lent them military assistance to make war with each other, nonetheless they did not restrain them:

46:3 Եւ սպառեալ պատգամաւորութեանն, ժողովեալ Արշակայ զզաւրս իւր` խաղայ ի վերայ Խոսրովայ:
| 46:3 When diplomatic exchanges had been exhausted, Arshak gathered his army and attacked Khosrov:

46:4 Գնաց եւ Խոսրով ի բանակէն իւրմէ առ ծովուն Գեղամայ, զոր Մաւրսն կոչեն, ընդ առաջ Արշակայ, զի մի՛ ի սահմանս իւր իջցէ. եւ ոչ այնչափ ատակեաց աճապարեալ` մինչեւ եգիտ զԱրշակ իջեալ յիւր սահմանս, ի գաւառին Վանանդայ:
| 46:4 And Khosrov moved from his camp by the lake of Geḷam, which they call the Marshes, to meet Arshak and prevent him from entering his territory. But he was unable to move quickly enough before he found that Arshak had crossed his border in the province of Vanand:

46:5 Եւ պատահեն միմեանց ի դաշտին որ կոչի Երեւել. եւ տան պատերազմ ընդ միմեանս սաստիկ յոյժ:
| 46:5 They met each other on the plain called Erewel and gave violent battle mutually:

46:6 Հարկանի զաւրն Արշակայ, մեռանի եւ սպարապետն նորա Դարա Սիւնի ի պատերազմին, եւ փախստական լինի Արշակ սակաւուք:
| 46:6 Arshak’s army was defeated, and his commander- in- chief Dara of Siunik’ was killed in the battle. Arshak himself fled with a few men:

46:7 Եւ զհետ նորա մտեալ քաջին Սահակայ ասպետի, սպարապետին Խոսրովայ` վարէր սաստկապէս:
| 46:7 The brave aspet Sahak, Khosrov’s sparapet, pursued him and pressed him hard:

46:8 Ուրանաւր ահագին նահատակութիւնս ցուցեալ Գազաւոնի, որդւոյ Սպանդարատայ, բազում անգամ դարձեալ յարձակմամբ` ցրուէր զհետամուտսն, եւ տայր պարապ ժամ գնալոյ Արշակայ:
| 46:8 There Gazavon, son of Spandarat, showed awesome acts of heroism, often turning in attack and scattering their pursuers, thus giving Arshak time to escape:

46:9 Եւ դարձաւ Խոսրով ի տեղի իւր, եւ գնաց Արշակ յԵկեղեաց. եւ հիւանդացեալ անդ մաշարայական ախտիւք` ջերանի հիւծմամբ եւ մեռանի, թագաւորեալ ամենայն Հայոց ամս հինգ, եւ կիսոցն Հայոց ամս երկուս եւ կէս:
| 46:9 Khosrov returned to his camp, while Arshak went to Ekeḷeats’. There he fell ill with consumption, wasted away with fever, and died. He had reigned over all of Armenia for five years and over half of Armenia for two and a half years:

46:10 Եւ այնուհետեւ ոչ եւս կացուցին Յոյնք ի բաժնի իւրեանց թագաւոր, այլ առաջնորդէր նախարարաց կողմանցն այնոցիկ քաջն Գազաւոն. եւ աշխարհին իւրեանց մասինն կացուցին Յոյնք կոմէսս իշխանս:
| 46:10 Thenceforth the Greeks appointed no more kings in their sector, but the valiant Gazavon was the presiding prince of that area, and the Greeks appointed counts as governors of their part of the country:
