50:1 Կապումն Խոսրովայ, եւ փոխանորդել զթագն Վռամշապհոյ եղբաւր նորին:
| 50:1 The imprisonment of Khosrov, and the passing of the crown to his brother Vṙamshapuh:

50:2 Բայց Շապուհ էր ցասմամբ ընդ Խոսրովայ ի բարեկամանալն Արկադեայ անձամբ, եւ յանհրաման կարգել յեպիսկոպոսութիւն զմեծն Սահակ. վասն որոյ յղեալ մեղադրութիւն հանդերձ սպառնալեաւք` ըմբոստացաւ Խոսրով, եւ խրոխտմամբ վեսական պատասխանեաց, արձակեաց զպատգամաբերսն անարգանաւք:
| 50:2 Shapuh was angry at Khosrov for his friendly relations with Arcadius and for his unbidden appointment of Sahak the Great to the episcopate. Therefore, when he sent reproaches with threats, Khosrov burst into anger, replied in a haughty and insolent fashion, and sent away the messengers in dishonor:

50:3 Եւ իսկոյն խաւսեցաւ ընդ Արկադեայ, զի լուծեալ զհաշտութիւնն ընդ Շապհոյ` աւգնեսցէ նմա զաւրու, եւ սա դարձուսցէ ի նա զբոլոր աշխարհս:
| 50:3 Straightway he negotiated with Arcadius that if he would break his treaty with Shapuh and give him military assistance, he would restore to him the entire land:

50:4 Այլ Շապուհ, ի հրապուրելոյ գուշակութեան նահապետացս մերոց` նոյն հետայն առաքէ զորդի իւր զԱրտաշիր զաւրու մեծաւ ի Հայս:
| 50:4 But Shapuh, at the instigation and warning of our princes, immediately sent his own son Artashir with a large army to Armenia:

50:5 Եւ ի հրաժարել Արկադեայ ի կուսակցելոյն Խոսրովայ, եւ ոչ զոք յաւտար ազգաց գտեալ ի սատարութիւն, անկարացեալ ընդդիմանալ կամ խուսափել ի նմանէ` չոգաւ առ նա:
| 50:5 And since Arcadius refused to ally himself with Khosrov, and the latter found no one among foreign nations who would help him, unable to oppose or escape from Artashir he went to him:

50:6 Եւ Արտաշրի ընկեցեալ զնա ի տէրութենէն, փոխանակ կացուցանելով զՎռամշապուհ զեղբայր նորին, ո՛չ զմեծն Սահակ եւ ոչ զոք ի նախարարացն կարգելոցն ի Խոսրովայ վրդովեաց ի պատուոյ իւրաքանչիւր, նա եւ հրամայեաց եւս ընդ Յոյնս զնոյն կարգ ունել:
| 50:6 Artashir deprived him of his authority, setting his brother Vṙamshapuh in his place. But he did not deprive Sahak the Great or any of the princes installed by Khosrov of their rank. Likewise, he ordered them to observe the same attitude toward the Greeks as before:

50:7 Եւ թողեալ գունդ ստուար, ինքն ի Տիսբոն փութայր հասանել, ի ծերութենէ հաւրն ակն ածեալ, ընդ իւր ունելով զԽոսրով` դնել յԱնուշն կոչեցեալ բերդին. որոյ թագաւորեալ ամս հինգ:
| 50:7 Leaving behind a powerful force, he himself hastened back to Ctesiphon in consideration of his father’s old age. Taking Khosrov with him he had him imprisoned in the fortress called Anush. Khosrov had reigned for five years:

50:8 Ընդ նմա տարաւ եւ զԳազաւոն կապանաւք, կասկածեալ յառնն քաջութենէ. եւ զտուն նորա հրամայէ ունել յարքունիս, նոյնպէս եւ զեղբաւր նորա Շաւարշայ, եւ զՊարգեւայ Ամատունւոյ:
| 50:8 He also took with him Gazavon in bonds, being suspicious of the man’s valor, and he ordered his lands to be confiscated to the court, like those of his brother Shavarsh and of Pargev Amatuni:

50:9 Քանզի նոքա երկոքեանն հանդերձ զինուորաւք իւրեանց եաւթն հարիւրովք նկատեալ որսացան զաջողութիւն ժամու ի ճանապարհի կարաւանին` զերծուցանել զարքայն իւրեանց Խոսրով. եւ ոչ աջողեցան ի պարաւանդելոյ ոտից նորա ի շղթայս:
| 50:9 Both of them with their soldiers, seven hundred strong, were watching for an opportune moment to attack the caravan on the road and free their king Khosrov. But they were unsuccessful because his feet were bound with chains:

50:10 Եւ հզաւր մարտի եղելոյ` սպանան Շաւարշ եւ Մանուէլ որդի Պարգեւայ, եւ բազումք ընդ նոսա. իսկ Պարգեւ ի կալանս ըմբռնեալ` ածաւ առաջի Արտաշրի. եւ տիկտեսակ գործեալ ուռուցմամբ` հրամայեաց դնել յանդիման Խոսրովայ հանապազ:
| 50:10 A fierce battle took place, and Shavarsh, Manuel, the son of Pargev, and many of their company were killed. But Pargev was captured and taken before Artashir, who had him blown up like a wine skin and ordered him to be set perpetually in front of Khosrov:
