13:0 Բարեպաշտութիւն Շիրին թագուհւոյ: Հրաման Խոսրովայ հաստատուն կալ եւ մնալ ի հայրենի աւրէնս:

13:1 Էին սորա կանայք բազում ըստ աւրինի մոգութեան իւրեանց, բայց առ սա եւ կանայս քրիստոնեայս, եւ սորա կին քրիստոնեայ յոյժ գեղեցիկ ի Խուժաստան աշխարհէ, անունն Շիրին: Սա է բամբիշն, տիկնաց տիկին: Շինեաց վանս եւ եկեղեցի մերձակայ արքունական կայենիցն, եւ բնակեցոյց ի նմա քահանայս եւ պաշտաւնեայս. կարգեաց ռոճիկս եւ հանդերձագինս յարքունուստ, զարդարեաց ոսկւով եւ արծաթով:
| 13:1 He had many wives in accordance with the tradition of their magism. But he also took Christian wives; one of these was a very beautiful Christian woman from the land of Khuzastan, named Shirin. She was the queen, the chief wife. She built a monastery and a church near the royal residence, and established there priests and ministers. She appointed allowances and money for clothing from the treasury; she adorned it with gold and silver:

13:2 Եւ բարձր ի գլուխ համարձակութեամբ քարոզէր զաւետարանն արքայութեան ի դրանն արքունի. եւ ոչ ոք իշխէր ի մեծամեծաց քաւդէիցն բանալ զբերան իւր եւ ասել բան մի մեծ կամ փոքր ընդ քրիստոնէի:
| 13:2 With head held high she boldly preached the gospel of the kingdom at the royal court. None of the greatest Chaldaeans dared open his mouth or say anything great or small against a Christian:

13:3 Բայց ապա յորժամ լցան աւուրք եւ եհաս ի կատարեալ ժամանակի՝ զբազումս ի մոգուց որ դարձան ի քրիստոնէութիւն՝ սպանմամբ կատարեալ մարտիրոսութեամբ ի տեղիս տեղիս:
| 13:3 But when the days were fulfilled and she reached the end of her time, many of the magi who had converted to Christianity were put to a martyr’s death in various places:

13:4 Եւ հրաման ետ, ասէ. «Մի ոք յանաւրինաց իշխեսցէ դառնալ ի քրիստոնէութիւն, եւ մի ոք ի քրիստոնէից դարձցի յանաւրինութիւն, այլ իւրաքանչիւր ոք յիւր հայրենի յաւրէնս պինդ կացցէ:
| 13:4 He gave a command, saying: ‘ Let none of the impious dare to convert to Christianity, and none of the Christians to impiety, but let each one remain firm in his own ancestral tradition:

13:5 Եւ որ ոչն կամիցի ունել զհայրենի դէն, այլ ապստամբեալ ի բաց կացցէ յիւր հայրենի աւրինացն՝ մեռցի»: Բայց ի մեծ տաւնի ողոգոմեանն՝ երթային ի վանաց Շիրինայ, եւ որ այլ քրիստոնեայք՝ ի դուռն սենեկին արքայի, պաշտմամբ ընթեռնուին զաւետարան, եւ առնուին պարգեւս ի թագաւորէն եւ գնային: Եւ ոչ ոք իշխէր խաւսել ինչ ընդ նոսա:
| 13:5 And whoever does not wish to hold his ancestral religion, but in rebellion abandons his ancestral traditions, shall die. ’ Now on the feast of Palm Sunday they used to go from Shirin’s monastery, with other Christians, to the door of the royal apartment, and they would read the gospel as an act of worship. They would receive gifts from the king and depart. And no one dared say anything against them:
