28:1 Յաղագս որ ի խորհրդակցացն բան. զկնի ապա եւ որ ինչ իւր մտածութիւն, եւ նոյնեւետայն գործն:
| 28:1 Concerning the counselors’ advice, his own thoughts thereafter, and the immediate action:

28:2 Բազում ինչ հանճարով եւ իմաստութեամբ ի ձէնջ լուեալ, ասէ, ո՛վ սիրելիք, ասացից եւ որ ինչ իմ յետ աստուածոցն աւգնականութեան յայսոսիկ աւգտակարագոյն բան եւ մտածութիւն:
| 28:2 I have heard many thoughtful and wise things from you, my friends,” he said. “ I shall now tell you which of them, with the help of the gods, I consider to be the most useful advice:

28:3 Քանզի ոչ ինչ առ թշնամեացն զգուշութիւն վեհագոյն բերէ աւգնականութիւն, եւ ծանաւթութիւն նոցայցն առաջի արկելոց գործոց` քան թէ որ ի ձեռն սիրով դաւելոյն զկորուստ խորհեսցի:
| 28:3 For nothing brings greater advantage, when one is taking precautions against the enemy and wishes to know his plans, than for some- one through the pretense of friendship to plot his downfall:

28:4 Եւ զայս դարձեալ ոչ ի ձեռն գանձուց, եւ ոչ ի ձեռն բանից պատրողաց այժմ մեզ հնարաւորութիւն է կատարել, եթէ ոչ որպէս կամք են ինձ այժմ գործել:
| 28:4 This, furthermore, we cannot now accomplish through money or deceitful words unless we now act as I wish:

28:5 Եւ այն է նիւթ կատարման խորհրդոյս եւ հնարք որոգայթիցս, գեղեցիկն ի կանայս եւ խոհեմն, քոյր նորա Տիգրանուհի:
| 28:5 The means to accomplish my plan and the bait for the trap is the most beautiful and intelligent among women, his sister Tigranuhi:

28:6 Զի այսպիսիքս իսկ արտաքուստ եւ եկամուտ հարազատութիւնք համարձակ զդաւելն ի ձեռն երթեւեկութեան անյայտաբար ընդարձակ մարթեցուցանիցեն վարժել. կամ յանկարծաւրէն իւրոց մտերմաց, ընչիւք եւ խոստմամբ պատուոց, տալ հրաման խողխողել սրով եւ կամ հնարիւք դեղոց, եւ կամ զմտերիմս նորա եւ զկուսակալս գանձիւք ի նմանէ ի բաց մերկանալ, եւ այսպէս իբրեւ զանզաւր տղայ ի բուռն առցուք:
| 28:6 For she has such extensive connections with the outside and abroad as will freely enable us, through her journeying, to plan his assassination secretly and easily: either on some unforeseen occasion to bid one of his friends, with presents and the promise of honors, to slay him with the sword or by means of poison; or to strip him of his intimates and lieutenants by money and thus to seize him like a powerless child:

28:7 Եւ ազդող համարեալ բարեկամացն զայսպիսի խորհուրդ` նիւթեն եւ զգործն:
| 28:7 His friends considered such a plan to be effective, and they prepared to put it into execution:

28:8 Ի ձեռն միոյ ուրումն ի խորհրդակցացն տուեալ բազմութիւն գանձուց` ի ձեռն թղթոյ, աւրինակաւս այսուիկ, յուղարկէ:
| 28:8 To one of his counselors he gave a great sum of money and sent him off with a letter in the following terms:
