11:1 Յաղագս մերոյ Արտաշիսի Առաջնոյ եւ յափշտակելոյ զնախագահութիւնն:
| 11:1 Concerning our Artashēs the First and his usurpation of the first rank:

11:2 Արտաշէս թագաւորէ Հայոց փոխանակ Արշակայ հաւր իւրոյ ի քսան եւ ի չորրորդ ամի Արշականայ Պարսից արքայի. եւ յառաջադէմ եղեալ` ոչ զերկրորդականն ունի գահ, այլ զաւագութեանն թեկն ածէ. որում հաւանեալ, յանձն առնու Արշական տալ նմա զնախագահութիւնն:
| 11:2 Artashēs became king of Armenia in succession to his father Arshak in the twenty- fourth year of Arshakan, king of Persia. As his fortunes progressed, he did not hold the second rank but coveted the highest position. Having faith in him, Arshakan entrusted him with the first rank:

11:3 Քանզի էր այր հպարտ եւ պատերազմասէր. որ եւ արքունիս իւր ի Պարսից աշխարհին շինեաց, եւ դրամ առանձին զիւր պատկերն հարկանէր. եւ զԱրշական ընդ իւրով ձեռամբ կացուցանէր թագաւոր Պարսից, որպէս զՏիգրան որդի իւր` Հայոց:
| 11:3 for he was a proud man and warlike, who had built his own palace in Persia and was striking his own coins with his image. He established Arshakan under his own authority as king of Persia, and likewise Tigran his own son as king of Armenia:

11:4 Բայց տայ զՏիգրան որդի իւր ցպատանի ոմն Վարաժ անուն, որդի Դատայ, որ ի զաւակէ Գառնկայ` որ ի Գեղամայ, քանզի էր պատանին նշաւակ ի նետաձգութիւն կորովութեան, ուսուցանել զՏիգրան:
| 11:4 He gave his son Tigran for instruction to a youth called Varazh, son of Dat, from the seed of Gaṙnik, a descendant of Geḷam, for he was a youth famous for his prowess in archery:

11:5 Զնա իշխան արքունականացն արարեալ որսոց, եւ շէնս պարգեւեալ նմա զՀրազդան գետով` յանուն նորա կոչի ազգն Վարաժնունի:
| 11:5 He made him superintendent of the royal hunt and granted him villages by the River Hrazdan; from his name the Varazhnuni family is so called:

11:6 Բայց զդուստր իւր զԱրտաշամայ տայ կին Միհրդատայ ումեմն Վրաց բդեշխի մեծի, որ էր ի զաւակէ Միհրդատայ, Դարեհի նախարարի, զոր կացուցեալ էր Աղեքսանդրի ի վերայ գերութեանն Վերիացւոց աշխարհին, որպէս յառաջն պատմեցաք. եւ հաւատայ նմա զկողմնակալութիւն հիւսիսային լերանցն եւ Պոնտոս ծովու:
| 11:6 His sister Artasham he gave as wife to a certain Mithridates, great bdeashkh of Georgia, who was from the seed of Mithridates, satrap of Darius, whom Alexander had set over the prisoners from Iberia, as we narrated above. And he entrusted him with the government of the northern mountains and the Pontic Sea:
