56:1 Թէ ո՛րպէս բազմամարդացոյց Արտաշէս զաշխարհս, եւ սահմանս հաստատեաց:
| 56:1 How Artashēs increased the population of the land and fixed the borders:

56:2 Յետ ամենայն առաքինութեանց եւ գործոց ուղղութեանց Արտաշիսի, հրամայէ զսահմանս գիւղից եւ ագարակաց որոշել. քանզի բազմամարդացոյց զաշխարհս Հայոց, եկամուտս բազումս ածելով ազգս, եւ բնակեցուցանելով ի լերինս եւ ի հովիտս եւ ի դաշտս:
| 56:2 After all these noble deeds and acts of wise government, Artashēs ordered the boundaries of villages and of estates to be distinguished. For he had increased the population of Armenia by introducing many foreigners into the populace and settling them in the mountains and valleys and plains:

56:3 Եւ նշանս սահմանացն հաստատեաց այսպէս. հրաման տալով քարինս կոփել չորեքկուսիս, եւ պնակաձեւ փոսել զմէջսն, ծածկելով յերկրի. եւ չորեքկուսիս ի վերայ յարուցանել ամբարտակս, սակաւ ինչ բարձրագոյն յերկրէ:
| 56:3 And he established markers for the borders in the following way: he ordered four- sided stones to be hewn, their centers to be hollowed out like plates, and that they be buried in the earth. Over them he had fitted four- sided obelisks, a little higher than the ground:

56:4 Ընդ որ նախանձեալ Արտաշրի որդւոյ Սասանայ` զնոյն նման հրամայէ առնել եւ ի Պարսից աշխարհին եւ յիւր անունն անուանել, զի մի՛ եւս յիշեսցի անունն Արտաշիսի:
| 56:4 Of this Artashir, son of Sasan, was jealous, and he ordered the same to be done in Persia and that they be called by his own name, so that the name of Artashēs might be no more remembered:

56:5 Բայց ասի, ի ժամանակս Արտաշիսի ոչ գտանել երկիր անգործ յաշխարհիս Հայոց, ո՛չ լեռնային եւ ոչ դաշտային, յաղագս շինութեան երկրիս:
| 56:5 But it is said that in the time of Artashēs there was no land unworked in Armenia, neither of mountain nor plain, on account of the prosperity of the country:
