6:1 Եթէ ո՛րպէս կարգեաց Վաղարշակ զարեւմուտս եւ զհիւսիսի մերոյ աշխարհիս:
| 6:1 How Vaḷarshak organized the west and north of our country:

6:2 Եւ այսպէս կատարեալ` կարգէ զկողմանս Մաժաքայ եւ զՊոնտացիս եւ զԵգերացիս. դառնայ զհիւսիսեաւ առ ստորոտովն Պարխարայ ընդ մէջ Տայոց, ի գիջին եւ ի մառախլուտ տեղիս մայրեաց եւ ի լաւռաւէտս. գեղեցիկ իմն կարգելով զերկիրն, հաւասարելով զլեռնայինն եւ զջերմահոտն ի բարեխառն եւ ի զուգագեղեցիկ վայելչութիւն իւրոյ թագաւորութեանն. ամառնային ժամանակին հովանոցս պատրաստելով, յորժամ զհիւսիսեաւ երթիցէ:
| 6:2 Having brought matters to this conclusion, he organized the regions of Mazhak and Pontus and Egeria. He returned north- ward to the foot of Parkhar in Tayk’ to the wet and foggy regions of forests and moss. To this land he gave a prettier form, reducing the mountainous and tropical terrain to a temperate and delightful climate for his royal resort. He prepared arbors for the summer season when he would go to the north:

6:3 Գոմս զերկուս տափարակսն անտառախիտս հանդերձ լերամբքն կազմելով, եւ որսոց տեղիս, եւ զջերմութիւնն Կողայ` ի մարմանդս այգեաց եւ բուրաստանաց:
| 6:3 Two flat and wooded areas with mountains he arranged as hunting places. Koḷ with its hot climate he used as parks for vineyards and gardens:

6:4 Այլ խտրեմ աստ վասն սիրելի առնն յայտնի գրել զամենայն եւ մանրապատում. զի անցի միայն զտեղիսն նշանակելով հաւաստի, եւ զոճն ի բաց թողեալ, վասն զկապ սիրոյ զհրաշալւոյն անխզելի պահելոյ:
| 6:4 I am scrupulous here to write everything in detail about this beloved and famous man; for I have continued my account merely noting faithfully the sites and omitting rhetorical embellishment to preserve intact the bonds of my admiration for this wonderful man:

6:5 Եւ աստ կոչեցեալ զվայրենի եկամուտ ազգն, որ ի դաշտին հիւսիսոյ եւ որ զստորոտով մեծի լերինն Կաւկասոյ, եւ որ ի հովիտս կամ ի ձորս երկայնաձիգս խորացեալս, ի լեռնէն որ զհարաւով` իջեալ մինչ ի դաշտաբերանն մեծ. պատուէր տալով զաւազակութիւն եւ զմարդադաւութիւն ի բաց քեցել յինքեանց, եւ հրամանաց եւ հարկաց արքունի հպատակ լինել. որպէս զի միւսանգամ տեսեալ զնոսա` առաջնորդս եւ իշխանս հանդերձ գեղեցիկ կարգաւք հաստատեսցէ:
| 6:5 He summoned there the barbarous foreign race that inhabited the northern plain and the foothills of the great Caucasus Mountain and the vales or long and deep valleys that descend from the mountain on the south to the great plain. He ordered them to cast off their banditry and assassinations and to become subject to royal commands and taxes, so that when he next saw them, he might appoint leaders and princes with proper institutions:

6:6 Եւ արձակէ զնոսա հանդերձ արամբք իմաստնովք եւ վերակացուաւք յիւրմէ:
| 6:6 And he dismissed them with wise men and overseers:

6:7 Եւ ինքն արձակեալ զարեւմտեայ բազմութիւնն` իջանէ ի տեղիս խոտաւէտս մերձ ի սահմանն Շարայի. զոր հինքն Անփայտ եւ վերին Բասեան կոչէին. իսկ յետոյ վասն հատուածի Վզընդուր Բուլղարայ Վնդայ, բնակելոյ ի տեղիսն` յանուն նորա անուանեցաւ Վանանդ. եւ անուանք շինիցն յանուն եղբարց եւ զարմից նորա անուանեալ կոչին մինչեւ ցայժմ:
| 6:7 He himself, having discharged the army of the west, descended to the grassy meadows near the border of Sharay, which the ancients called “ Unwooded” and Upper Basean, but which later, because the colony of the Vḷendur Bulgar Vund dwelt in the area, was called Vanand after his name. And the names of the villages are called after his brothers and descendants to this very day:

6:8 Իսկ ի ցրտանալ հիւսիսոյ եւ ի դառն հողմ փչելոյ, խաղայ իջանէ ի դաշտն մեծ. եւ անդ զափամբ մաւրին մեծի բանակի ի տեղւոջ, ուր գետն մեծ ի ծովակէն հիւսիսոյ սկիզբն առեալ` իջանէ եւ խառնի ի մաւրն մեծ:
| 6:8 But when the north grew cold from the bitter winds, he hastened to descend to the great plain. There he encamped on the bank of the Metsamawr in a spot where the great river, taking its origin from the northern lake, descends and mingles with the Metsamawr:

6:9 Եւ անդ կարգեալ զզաւրս աշխարհիս, եւ թողեալ յինքենէ վերակացուս, եւ իւր առեալ զամենայն գլխաւորսն` չուէ ի Մծբին:
| 6:9 There he organized the army of our country, and leaving overseers he himself took all the leaders and journeyed to Nisibis:
