72:1 Խոսրովայ աւգնականութիւն գտեալ ի Փիլիպպոսէ, դիմէ ի վերայ Արտաշրի պատերազմաւ:
| 72:1 Khosrov receives aid from Philip and attacks Artashir in war:

72:2 Աղմուկ խռովութեան լեալ ի թագաւորութեանն Փիլիպպոսի` ոչ կարաց ի Հռոմայեցւոց գնդացն պարապեցուցանել, առ ի զաւրավիգն լինել Խոսրովայ:
| 72:2 Because there were troubles in Philip’s empire, he was unable to spare any Roman forces to give military assistance to Khosrov:

72:3 Այլ աւգնէ նմա ի ձեռն գրոյ, հրամայելով սատարել նմա յամենայն կողմանց:
| 72:3 But he helped him by means of a letter ordering that he be given assistance from every region:

72:4 Որոց ընկալեալ զայսպիսի հրաման` հասանեն նմա յաւգնականութիւն յԵգիպտոսէ եւ յանապատէն մինչեւ ի ծովեզերսն Պոնտոսի:
| 72:4 When they received this command they came to his support from Egypt and the desert, from as far away as the shores of the Pontic Sea:

72:5 Որոյն գտեալ զայսչափ բազմութիւն, խաղայ ի վերայ Արտաշրի. եւ ճակատ տուեալ` ի փախուստ դարձուցանէ, թափելով ի նմանէ զԱսորեստան եւ զայլ արքայանիստ աշխարհս:
| 72:5 Having acquired such a multitude of troops he marched against Artashir, and giving battle put him to flight; he took from him Assyria and the other lands where he had a royal residence:

72:6 Դարձեալ յղէ ի ձեռն հրեշտակաց առ իւր տոհմայինսն Պարթեւ եւ Պահլաւիկ ազգս, եւ առ ամենայն զաւրս աշխարհին Քուշանաց, զի առ նա եկեալ վրէժս յԱրտաշրէ պահանջեսցեն, եւ զարժանաւորն ի նոցանէ թագաւորեցուսցէ, զի մի՛ տէրութիւնն հեռասցի յինքեանց:
| 72:6 Again he sent through messengers to his own kin the Parthian and the Pahlav families, and to all the forces of the land of the Kushans, that they should come to him and exact vengeance from Artashir; and he said that he would make the worthiest among them king so that the throne would not pass from them:

72:7 Իսկ նոցա ոչ առեալ յանձն, յառաջասացեալ ցեղիցն, որ Ասպահապետ եւ Սուրենեան անուանին` դառնայ Խոսրով յաշխարհս մեր. ոչ այնչափ ուրախացեալ ընդ յաղթութիւնն, որչափ ընդ վերջակացութիւն ազգականացն դժգմեալ:
| 72:7 But the aforementioned branches named Aspahapet and Surenean did not agree, so Khosrov returned to our land, not so much happy at his victory as upset at the falling away of his kin:

72:8 Յայնժամ հասանեն առ նա ոմանք ի հրեշտակաց իւրոց, որք ի պատուականագոյն ազգն երթեալ էին, ի խորագոյն աշխարհն, ի նոյն ինքն ի ներքս ի Բահլ. բերին նմա համբաւ, եթէ «ազգական քո Վեհսաճան, հանդերձ ցեղիւն իւրով Կարենեան Պահլաւին, ոչ հնազանդեաց Արտաշրի, այլ ի կոչ քո դիմեալ գայ առ քեզ:
| 72:8 Then there came to him some of his own messengers who had gone to the more illustrious nation far inland as far as Bahl. They brought him word that “ your kinsman Vehsachan with his branch of the Karēn Pahlav had not given obeisance to Artashir, but is coming to you in answer to your summons:
