| 75:1 Concerning Firmilian, bishop of Caesarea in Cappadocia, and his history:

75:2 Փերմելիանոս եպիսկոպոս Կեսարու Կապադովկացւոց էր այր սքանչելի յուսումնասիրութեան, որ եւ ի տղայութեան իւրում առ Որոգինէս երթեալ վարժեցաւ:
| 75:2 Firmilian, bishop of Caesarea in Cappadocia, was a marvelous scholar who in his youth had gone to study with Origen:

75:3 Սա բազում խաւսս արար, յորոց մի է պատմութիւն հալածանաց եկեղեցւոյ, որ յառաջ յաւուրս Մաքսիմիանոսի եւ Դեկոսի յարեաւ եւ որ հուսկ յետոյ յամս Դիոկղետիանոսի, շարայարեալ ի նա եւ զգործս թագաւորացն:
| 75:3 He composed many treatises, among them a history of the persecutions of the church, which arose first in the days of Maximian and Decius and last of all in the reign of Diocletian; he also included in it the deeds of the kings:

75:4 Յորում ասէ` վեշտասաներորդ եպիսկոպոս կացեալ Աղեքսանդրացւոց Պետրոս, վկայեալ յիններորդ ամի հալածանացն:
| 75:4 In this book he says that Peter, the sixteenth bishop of Alexandria, was martyred in the ninth year of the persecution:

75:5 Գրէ զբազումս վկայեալս եւ ի Խոսրովայ, ի մերում աշխարհիս, համայն եւ յետ նորա աւտարք յաւտարաց:
| 75:5 He writes also of many who were martyred by Khosrov in our own land, and similarly after him of others martyred by others:

75:6 Բայց զի ոչ ճշմարտութեամբ եւ ոճով պատմէ, եւ ոչ զանուանսն նշանակէ կամ զտեղիս կատարմանցն` ոչ ինչ կարեւորագոյն համարեցաք երկրորդել:
| 75:6 But because he did not compose his history accurately or with details and indicated neither the names nor the places, we have not considered them important enough to repeat:

75:7 Նոյնպէս եւ զԱնտոնինէ որդւոյ Սեւերեայ ասէ` պատերազմեալ ընդ Վաղարշայ Պարսից արքայի ի Միջագետս, եւ մեռանել ի մէջ Եդեսիայ եւ Խառանու, եւ մերոյն Խոսրովու ոչ յոք հակամիտեալ:
| 75:7 Likewise he says about Antony, the son of Severus, that he waged war against Vaḷarsh, king of Persia, in Mesopotamia and died between Edessa and Harran, while our Khosrov supported neither side:

75:8 Իսկ որ ինչ զկնի մահուանն Խոսրովայ մինչեւ ցթագաւորութիւնն Տրդատայ ի ժամանակս անիշխանութեանն պատմէ` ստոյգ համարելով երկրորդեմք քեզ համառաւտ բանիւք:
| 75:8 But as for his account of events after the death of Khosrov down to the reign of Trdat in the period of anarchy, considering this to be accurate we shall repeat it for you briefly:

75:9 Բայց եւ որ ինչ ի թագաւորութեանն Տրդատայ եւ յետ նորա, ոչ հեղգութեամբ եւ անզգուշաբար վրիպեալ, եւ ոչ կամաւոր սխալանաւք ի սմա յարմարեալ բան, այլ որ ինչ ի յիշատակաց դիւանագիր մատենիցն Յունաց:
| 75:9 But as for what happened in the reign of Trdat and after him, we have not erred through laziness or negligence, nor have we set down anything in purposeful error, but only what comes from the records of the archival books of the Greeks:

75:10 Իսկ ըստ նմանեացն ապա եւ որ ինչ ի համբաւուց արանց իմաստնոց եւ հնախաւս սիրաբանից ստուգապէս տեղեկացեալ, արդարաբար քեզ զրուցեցաք:
| 75:10 So having accurately gained our information in such matters from the reports of wise men and antiquarians, we have given you a faithful account:
