78:1 Կոտորումն ազգին Մանդակունեաց յԱրտաշրէ:
| 78:1 The slaughter of the Mandakuni family by Artashir:

78:2 Բայց Արտաշրի լուեալ էր, թէ ոմն ի նախարարացն Հայոց առեալ զմի յորդւոցն Խոսրովայ, փախուցեալ ապրեցոյց, ի դուռն կայսեր հասուցանելով:
| 78:2 Artashir had heard that one of the Armenian princes had fled with one of Khosrov’s sons and saved him by bringing him to the imperial court:

78:3 Եւ քննեալ թէ ո՛վ ոք նա իցէ` եղեւ վերահասու, թէ նա է Արտաւազդ յազգէն Մանդակունեաց. հրամայեաց զամենայն ազգն ջնջել սատակմամբ:
| 78:3 Having investigated who that might be, he discovered that it was Artavazd of the Mandakuni family. He ordered that entire family to be exterminated:

78:4 Քանզի ի գաղթելն Հայոց յԱրտաշրէ` գաղթին եւ նոքա ընդ ցեղս այլոց նախարարացն. եւ ի նուաճելն Արտաշրի զայլսն` դառնան եւ նոքա, եւ սատակին սրով ամենեքին:
| 78:4 When the Armenians had fled from Artashir, these too had fled with the families of the other princes. And when Artashir had subjected the rest, they returned and were all put to the sword:

78:5 Բայց զկոյս մի գեղեցկադիմակ, ի քերցն Արտաւազդայ, գողացեալ Տաճատայ ուրումն, որ էր յազգէն Աշոցան, ի զաւակէ Գուշարայ հայկազնոյ, փախուցեալ ի Կեսարացւոց քաղաքն ապրեցուցանէր, ամուսնաւորեալ ընդ ինքեան վասն չքնաղագեղ կերպարանին:
| 78:5 But a certain Tachat, who was from the family of Ashots’ and descended from Gushar Haykazn, abducted a beautiful maiden from among Artavazd’s sisters; and having rescued her by fleeing to the city of Caesarea, he married her because of her wonderful beauty:
