89:1 Յաղագս Արիոսի չարափառի, եւ ժողովոյն որ եղեւ վասն նորա ի Նիկիա, եւ սքանչելեացն որ երեւեցաւ ի Գրիգորիոս:
| 89:1 Concerning Arius the heretic and the council that took place on his account in Nicaea, and the miracle that happened to Gregory:

89:2 Ընդ այն ժամանակս երեւեցաւ Արիոս աղեքսանդրացի, որ ուսոյց չարաչար ամբարշտել, ոչ գոլ զՈրդի հաւասար Հաւր, եւ ոչ ի բնութենէ եւ յէութենէ Հաւր. եւ ոչ ծնեալ ի Հաւրէ յառաջ քան զյաւիտեանս, այլ աւտար զոմն եւ արարած եւ կրտսեր, եւ յետ ժամանակի գոյացեալ. որ ըստ արժանեաց իւրոց ամբարիշտս այս Արիոս ի գարշելիսն ընկալաւ զսատակումնն:
| 89:2 In those times appeared Arius of Alexandria who taught a wicked heresy: that the Son is not equal to the Father and not from the nature and being of the Father, nor born from the Father before all ages, but other and created and younger, and that he came into existence later. This impious Arius suffered the death that he merited in the latrines:

89:3 Վասն որոյ ել հրաման յինքնակալէն Կոստանդիանոսէ` ժողով լինել բազմութեան եպիսկոպոսաց ի Նիկիա Բիւթանացւոց:

89:4 Եւ ժողովեցան Բիտոն եւ Բիկենդ երիցունք ի Հռոմ քաղաքէ, ձեռնարկութեամբ սրբոյն Սեղբեստրոսի, Աղեքսանդրոս Աղեքսանդրի, Եւստաթիոս Անտիոքայ, Մակարիոս Երուսաղէմի, Աղեքսանդրոս Կոստանդնուպաւլսի եպիսկոպոսք:
| 89:4 There gathered Victor and Vincent, priests from the city of Rome with the signature of Saint Silvester, and the bishops Alexander of Alexandria, Eustathius of Antioch, Macarius of Jerusalem, and Alexander of Constantinople:

89:5 Յայնժամ գայ հասանէ հրովարտակ ինքնակալին Կոստանդիանոսի առ մեր արքայն Տրդատ, զի զսուրբն Գրիգոր առեալ ընդ իւր ի ժողովն երթիցէ. զոր ոչ առ յանձն Տրդատ:
| 89:5 Then there arrived an edict of the Emperor Constantine to our King Trdat, that taking Saint Gregory with him he should go to the council. But Trdat refused:

89:6 Քանզի լուեալ էր զխնամենալն Շապհոյ ընդ Հնդկաց թագաւորին եւ ընդ արեւելեանն Խաքանայ, եւ զզաւրավարելն Ներսեհի, որ եւ թագաւորեաց ամս ինն, եւ Որմզդի, որ ապա եւ նա թագաւորեաց ամս երիս նահատակութեամբք:
| 89:6 because he had heard of the alliance of Shapuh with the king of India and with the Khak’an of the east, and that his commanders were Nerseh, who later reigned for nine years, and Ormizd, who also later reigned for three years with success:

89:7 Եւ ի կասկածի եղեալ, զի մի՛ արդեաւք պայմանին ստիցէ ըստ սովորութեան հեթանոսութեանն` վասն այնորիկ ոչ եթող առանց իւր զաշխարհս:
| 89:7 And being suspicious that he might break the treaty according to the custom of pagans, he therefore did not leave the country without his presence:

89:8 Բայց եւ ոչ սուրբն Գրիգոր հաւանեցաւ երթալ, զի մի՛ զառաւել պատիւ վասն խոստովանողական անուանն ի ժողովոյն ընկալցի. որպէս զի այնպէս փափագանաւք եւ մեծաւ փութով կոչէին:
| 89:8 Nor did Saint Gregory agree to go lest he be given even more honor from the council on account of his name as a confessor, as indeed they so named him with affection and great enthusiasm:

89:9 Այլ նոքա առաքեն փոխանորդ իւրեանց զԱրիստակէս, հանդերձ ճշմարիտ խոստովանութեամբ, երկոցունց գրով:
| 89:9 But they sent in their place Aristakēs with a copy of the true confession of faith signed by them both:

89:10 Որոյ երթեալ հասանէ մեծին Ղեւոնդի. եւ հանդիպի յայնմ ժամու, զի մկրտէր զԳրիգոր զհայր Գրիգորի աստուածաբանի. որ իբրեւ ել ի ջրոյն` լոյս շուրջ փայլատակեաց զնովաւ, զոր ոչ ոք ի բազմութենէն ետես, այլ միայն Ղեւոնդիոս, որ մկրտէրն, եւ մերն Արիստակէս, եւ Եւթաղ Եդեսիայ, եւ Յակոբ Մծբնայ, եւ Յոհան Պարսից եպիսկոպոսք, որք նոյն շաւղաւք ուղեւորէին ի ժողովն:
| 89:10 On his way he met Leontius the Great at the moment when he was baptizing Gregory, the father of Gregory the theologian. When the latter emerged from the water, light shone out around him, which none of the multitude saw save Leontius, who was baptizing him, and our Aristakēs and Euthalius of Edessa and Jacob of Nisibis and John, bishop of Persia, who were traveling to the council by the same road:
