24:1 Եթէ ո՛րպէս ժպրհեցաւ Արշակ առնուլ զկին Գնելոյ, յորմէ եղեւ Պապ:
| 24:1 How Arshak had the temerity to marry Gnel’s wife, from whom Pap was born:

24:2 Թէպէտ եւ Արշակ կարծեաց զանխուլ գործել զչարիսն` այն որ ոչն ծածկի յամենատես ականէն Աստուծոյ, յայտնի եւ աշխարհի, առ ի մեղուցելոց պակուցումն, որպէս զմահն Տիրանայ եւ Գնելոյ:
| 24:2 Although Arshak intended to accomplish his evil deeds in secret, that which was not hidden from the all- seeing eye of God was also revealed to the world for the terror of sinners, the death of Tiran and Gnel:

24:3 Քանզի գիտացեալ ամենայն ուրուք` իմացաւ զայս եւ մեծն Ներսէս, եւ անէծ զԱրշակ եւ զառիթ սպանմանն. եւ գնացեալ նստաւ ի սուգ զաւուրս բազումս, որպէս Սամուէլ վասն Սաւուղայ:
| 24:3 Everyone came to know, and Nersēs the Great also learned of it; he cursed Arshak and the one who had been the cause of the murder. And he went and sat in mourning for many days, like Samuel over Saul:

24:4 Իսկ Արշակ ոչ զղջացեալ ապաշաւեաց, այլ անամաւթեալ, ագահելով ի գանձս սպանելոյն եւ ի ժառանգութիւն` յաւել առնուլ զկին նորին զՓառանձեմ. յորմէ եղեւ պատանի մի, որ անուանեցաւ Պապ:
| 24:4 However, Arshak showed no repentance or contrition but shamelessly rifled the treasures and inheritance of the dead man and even married his wife P’aṙandzem. From her was born a son who was called Pap:

24:5 Այս Փառանձեմ գործեաց զանլուր եւ զանկարելի չարիս, եւ զսարսափման լսողաց արժանաւոր:
| 24:5 This P’aṙandzem worked an unheard of and unimaginable crime worthy of inspiring horror in those who heard of it:

24:6 Անարժանիւ ոմամբ սուտանուն քահանայիւ ի կենաց դեղն զմահացուն խառնեալ` ետ Ողիմպիադայ առաջին կնոջն Արշակայ, եւ ելոյծ ի կենաց սակս տիկնութեանն մախանաց:
| 24:6 Through an unworthy priest, falsely so named, she mixed mortal poison in the remedy of life and give it to Olympias, Arshak’s first wife, depriving her of life through envy for her queenly rank:

24:7 Նոյնպէս եւ զՎաղինակ տայ Արշակայ սպանանել, եւ փոխանակ կարգել զիւր հայրն զԱնտիոք:
| 24:7 She likewise had Arshak murder Vaḷinak and set her own father Antiochus in his place:
