26:1 Պարտումն Շապհոյ ի Տիգրանակերտի:

26:2 Իսկ Շապուհ գայ հասանէ ի Տիգրանակերտ մեր քաղաք:

26:3 Կան ընդդէմ նորա արք քաղաքին հանդերձ գումարտակ գնդաւ. քանզի Անտիոք նահապետ Սիւնեաց, որ էր աներ Արշակայ եւ վերակացու քաղաքին, հրամայեաց աղխել ընդդէմ Շապհոյ:
| 26:3 The citizens opposed him with a force of levies, for Antiochus, prince of Siunik’, who was Arshak’s father- in- law and governor of the city, ordered it to be defended against Shapuh:

26:4 Եւ ոչ միայն զմուտն արգել, այլ եւ ոչ հրեշտակս առաքեաց առ նա, եւ ոչ զնորայսն ընկալաւ:

26:5 Եւ հզաւր կռուոյ եղելոյ` զբազումս ի Պարսիցն սպանանեն. եւ ի պարտութիւն մատնեալ գնդին Շապհոյ, դառնայ անդրէն ի Մծբին. եւ հանգիստ առեալ զաւրացն եւ արծարծեալ յաշխատութենէն, խնդրէր առնուլ զՏիգրանակերտ. եւ ոչ թողացուցին նմա յառաջախաղաց գունդք եւ լրտեսք` պատաղել զայնու, իբր թէ Յունացն խանգարեսցի գործ:
| 26:5 There was a fierce battle, and many Persians were killed. Shapuh’s force, being defeated, returned to Nisibis. After his army had rested and recovered from their efforts, he sought to take Tigranakert. But the vanguard and scouts prevented him from that undertaking on the grounds that the expedition against the Greeks would be vitiated:

26:6 Եւ Շապհոյ յառաջ անցեալ` գրէ առ նոսա թուղթ աւրինակ զայս:

26:8 Մազդեզանց քաջ Շապուհ արքայից արքայ. Տիգրանակերտեայց, որք ոչ եւս էք անուանելոց ի մէջ Արեաց եւ Անարեաց:
| 26:8 Shapuh, most valiant of the Mazdaeans, king of kings, to the citizens of Tigranakert who are no longer named among the Aryans and non- Aryans:

26:9 Ես կամէի ի ձէնջ սկսեալ յամենայն առաջիկայ քաղաքս խաղաղութեամբ եւ քաջաւրէն ազատութեամբ զմուտն առնել. եւ եթէ դուք Տիգրանակերտեայք, որ առաջին էք, ոչ շահատակութեամբ ասեմ, այլ ի մտէ ուղեւորութեանս, ընդդէմ կացէք ինձ` ի ձէնջ ուսցին եւ այլք զդոյն առնել:
| 26:9 I wished, beginning with you, to enter all cities on my path in peace and noble liberty. And if you, citizens of Tigranakert, who are the first - not in valor, I say, but on my journey - if you oppose me, the others will learn from you to do the same:

26:10 Այլ ի դարձին իմում բարկութեամբ այնպէս վանեցից զձեզ, զի կրկին եղիջիք աւրինակ խեռեալ ստահակելոց:
| 26:10 But on my return, I shall so destroy you in my anger that you will again become an example for the impudent and stubborn:
