45:1 Յաղագս գալոյն առ Խոսրով Սուրենայ, Վահանայ եւ Աշխադարայ հանդերձ գանձիւք Արշակայ:
| 45:1 Concerning the coming of Surēn, Vahan, and Ashkhadar to Khosrov with Arshak’s treasures:

45:2 Սուրենայ Խոռխոռունւոյ եւ Վահանայ Առաւեղենի եւ Աշխադարայ Դիմաքսենի գտեալ ժամ պատեհ, զի էր հանեալ զգանձսն Արշակայ յամրոցէն Հանւոյ` տանել յաշխարհն Ծոփաց, զոր յափշտակեալ, եւ կամեցեալ անցանել առ Խոսրով` ոչ ժամանեցին:
| 45:2 Surēn Khoṙkhoṙuni, Vahan Aṙaveḷean, and Ashkhadar Dimak’sean found the time opportune, for Arshak was removing his treasures from the fortress of Hani to take them to the land of Tsop’k’. They seized them, and although they wished to pass over to Khosrov they did not have time:

45:3 Քանզի աճապարեալ Սամուելի Մամիկոնենի մտերմի Արշակայ, յոլովաձեռն գնդաւ զհետ մտեալ` փախստեայս արկանէ յամուր այրս ի գաւառին Մանանաղւոյ. յոր մուտ ոչ գտանէր, բայց ի կողմանէ դոյզն ելք էին առ ի թաւալ, եւ առաջի դրաց այրին սեպ էր ուղղորդ միապաղաղ. եւ ի վերուստ պաղանձաւ քուաւոր, որ հայի յանդունդս խորաձորոյն. եւ որ ինչ զերծանի` յանհնարին ուղխս սաստկութեան անկանի, անդադար հոլովմամբ գլորեալ, ոչ ուրեք լինել ոտնկռիւ:
| 45:3 Samuel Mamikonean, a friend of Arshak’s, quickly gave pursuit with a powerful force and sent them fleeing to an inaccessible cave in the province of Mananaḷi, which had no way in save a narrow entrance at the side on a slope. In front of the entrance to the cave there was a massive, vertical cliff, above which an overhanging grotto looked into the depths of the valley. And whatever rocks broke loose fell down in a fearfully violent rush, rolling ceaselessly over and over; nowhere was there a foothold:

45:4 Վասն որոյ տարակուսեալ Սամուէլ վարանէր առ անհնարութեան տեղեացն:
| 45:4 Therefore Samuel was thrown into doubt and anxiety at the difficulty of the terrain:

45:5 Եւ ազդ արարեալ Արշակայ` հրամայեաց արկղ գործել երկաթակապ, եւ քաջ արանց ի ներքս մտանել, եւ այնպէս շղթայատող կարիւք ի վերուստ ի վայր իջուցանել ի դուրս այրին:
| 45:5 But, having informed Arshak, he ordered a box bound with iron to be constructed, that brave men should go inside, and that thus it should be let down from above to the entrance of the cave by means of rope chains:

45:6 Սակայն եւ ոչ այն ինչ վնասեաց. քանզի յոյժ ի բացեայ պահէր ցիրդն:
| 45:6 But this brought no harm because the brambles kept it well away:

45:7 Եւ մինչ դեռ նոքա յայնմ էին` լինէր իմն ըստ դիպուածոյ բախտի հասանել անդր ասպետին Սահակայ բովանդակ գնդաւն Խոսրովայ, որով հետամուտ յեղուզակացն էր:
| 45:7 While they were occupied with this, by chance there happened to arrive Sahak the aspet with all of Khosrov’s force with which he was pursuing the brigands:

45:8 Թողեալ զնոսա` դիմէ ի վերայ այնոցիկ որք ընդ այրին մարտնչէին, եւ հալածական արարեալ հանէ զՍուրէն, եւ զՎահան եւ զԱշխադար հանդերձ գանձիւքն, փոյթ ընդ փոյթ հասուցանէ առ Խոսրով:
| 45:8 Letting these go, he rushed on those who were attacking the cave. Putting them to flight he rescued Surēn and Vahan and Ashkhadar with the treasures, which he hastily had brought to Khosrov:

45:9 Իսկ Խոսրովայ առեալ` ի գանձուցն հանէ եւ մասն Շապհոյ. եւ հրամանաւ նորա տայ նոցա գիւղս եւ դաստակերտս ընտիրս եւ յարմարս յայնոցիկ ժառանգութենէ, որք ի բաժնոյն Պարսից մնացին առ Արշակայ:
| 45:9 When Khosrov received them, he set aside part of the treasures for Shapuh. And on the latter’s command he gave these three choice and fine villages and estates from the inheritance of those from the Persian sector who had remained with Arshak:

45:10 Եւ այս եղեւ սկիզբն պատերազմին Արշակայ եւ Խոսրովայ:
| 45:10 And this was the cause of the war between Arshak and Khosrov:
