44:1 Յաղագս լսելոյ Երուանդայ զգալն Արտաշիսի, եւ գումարել զաւրս ի պատրաստութիւն պատերազմի:
| 44:1 Concerning Eruand’s hearing of the arrival of Artashēs and his gathering of an army to prepare for war:

44:2 Լուր հասանէ առ Երուանդ յՈւտէացւոց գաւառին, եթէ գումարեաց արքայն Պարսից զաւրս բազումս ի ձեռն Սմբատայ, զի ի վերայ քո խաղացեալ ածցէ զմանուկն Արտաշէս ի թագաւորութիւն իւր:
| 44:2 News reached Eruand in the province of Uti that the Persian king had gathered a great force under Smbat to march against him and bring the young Artashēs to his own kingdom:

44:3 Զայս լուեալ Երուանդայ` եթող անդրէն զբազումս ի նախարարացն կողմնապահս, եւ ինքն գնաց ի քաղաքն իւր փութանակի, կուտել առ ինքն զզաւրս Հայոց, զՎրաց եւ զկողմանցն Կեսարու, այլ եւ զՄիջագետացն` աղերսիւք եւ տրովք:
| 44:3 When Eruand heard this, he left there many of the princes to guard the region, and he himself went to his own city in haste to gather around him the troops of Armenia and Georgia and the regions of Caesarea and also of Mesopotamia, by entreaties and gifts:

44:4 Եւ էին աւուրք գարնայնոյ. վասն որոյ երագ ժողովեցան զաւրքն ամենայն. նա եւ Արգամ, տանուտէր ազգին Մուրացեան, որ ի ծննդոցն Աժդահակայ, ամբոխ հետեւակաւ:
| 44:4 And as it was springtime, therefore all the troops quickly assembled, including Argam, prince of the Muratsean family who was descended from Azhdahak, with a force of infantry:

44:5 Քանզի էր Երուանդայ դարձուցեալ ի նա զգահն երկրորդական, զոր հանեալ էր ի նոցանէ Տիգրանայ եւ տուեալ իւրում քեռառնն Միհրդատայ. իսկ յետ մահուանն Միհրդատայ` ոչ լինէր ումեք տուեալ, մինչեւ Երուանդայ դարձուցանել զնա առ Արգամ:
| 44:5 For Eruand had restored to him the second rank, which Tigran had taken from him and given to his own brother- in- law Mihrdat; but after Mihrdat’s death it had not been given to anyone until Eruand restored it to Argam:

44:6 Եւ ոչ միայն նմա, այլ եւ ամենայն նախարարացն տայր պարգեւս եւ պատիւս, եւ զաւրացն ամենեցուն պարգեւէր առատապէս:
| 44:6 And not only to him but also to all the princes he gave presents and honors, and to all the troops he gave liberal donatives:
