62:1 Որ ինչ վասն Տիրանայ:
| 62:1 Whatever concerns Tiran:

62:2 Թագաւորէ Հայոց Տիրան որդի Արտաշիսի յերրորդ ամի Պերոզի առաջնոյ Պարսից արքայի:
| 62:2 Tiran, son of Artashēs, became king of Armenia in the second year of Peroz the First, king of Persia:
|
62:3 Սորա ոչ ինչ պատմին գործք մեծամեծք, այլ միայն թէ մտերմութեամբ ծառայեաց Հռոմայեցւոց. եկեաց խաղաղութեամբ, որսոց եւ զբաւսանաց պարապեալ, որպէս ասեն:
| 62:3 No great deeds are told of him but merely that he served the Romans faithfully. He lived in peace, occupied with hunting and amusements, as they say:

62:4 Եւ ձիոց երկուց լեալ` թեթեւ առաւել քան զՊիգասոս, երագութեամբ անբաւ. զորս ոչ երկրակոխս, այլ աւդագնացս համարէին. յոր խնդրեալ հեծանել Դատաքէի ուրումն իշխանի Բզնունեաց` պարծէր ընչեղագոյն գոլ քան զարքայ:
| 62:4 He had two horses that were swifter than Pegasus in their incomparable speed so that men thought that they did not strike the ground but flew through the air. When Datakē, a prince of the Bznunik’, asked permission to ride them, he boasted that he was richer than the king:

62:5 Եւ եկեալ առ նա կանխագոյն իւրոյ ազգին Արշակունեաց, որ էին ի կողմանս Հաշտենից` ասեն. «Ընդարձակեա՛ մեզ զժառանգութիւնս, զի նեղ է. քանզի բազմացաք յոյժ:
| 62:5 There came to him members of his own ancient family of the Arsacids who lived in the regions of Hashteank’, and they said: “ Enlarge for us our inheritance, for it is cramped, since we have multiplied greatly:

62:6 Եւ նա հրամայէ ոմանց ի նոցանէ երթալ ի գաւառն Աղիովտի եւ Առբերանւոյ:
| 62:6 He ordered some of them to go to the province of Aḷiovit and Aṙberan:

62:7 Իսկ սոցա առաւել եւս բողոք կալեալ առ արքայի, թէ առաւելագոյն նեղ է մեզ` ոչ ինչ ունկնդիր լինի Տիրան. այլ հաստատեալ վճիռ` ոչ այլ ժառանգութիւն տալ նոցա, բայց զոր ունէինն` հաւասար տրոհել յինքեանս:
| 62:7 But they protested even more to the king: “ This is even more cramping for us.” Tiran paid no heed but confirmed his decision to give them no other inheritance and to divide equally among them what they did have:

62:8 Զոր բաժանեալ ըստ մարդաթուի` գտաւ պակաս ժառանգութիւն բնակողացն Հաշտենից. վասն որոյ բազումք ի նոցանէ եկին ի գաւառն Աղիովտի եւ Առբերանւոյ:
| 62:8 But when it was divided according to their number, there was found to be insufficient inheritance for the inhabitants of Hashteank’. Therefore, many of them came to the provinces of Aḷiovit and Aṙberan:

62:9 Յաւուրս սորա ասեն լեալ զպատանի ոմն յազգէն Անձաւացեաց, սէգ յամենայն, Երախնաւու անուն կոչեցեալ. որ առնէ կին զվերջին կանանցն Արտաւազդայ, զոր ի Յունաց էր ածեալ:
| 62:9 In his days, they say, lived a young man of the Andzavats’i family, distinguished in every way, called Erakhnavu. He married the last of Artavazd’s wives, whom he had brought from Greece:

62:10 Եւ քանզի զաւակ ոչ գոյր Արտաւազդայ` արքայ թողու յԵրախնաւու զամենայն տունն Արտաւազդայ:
| 62:10 And because Artavazd had no child, the king left to Erakhnavu all the house of Artavazd:
|
62:11 Զի ասէին զնա այր ընտիր լինել եւ համեստ յամենայնի, այլ եւ ի ցանկութիւնս մարմնոյ իբրեւ զաւրինաւոր ոք:
| 62:11 for they saw that he was a select man and moderate in all regards, and temperate even in the desires of the flesh:

62:12 Զոր սիրեալ արքայի` տայ նմա զգահն երկրորդական, զոր ունէրն Արտաւազդ. եւ զհոգս արեւելեան զաւրուն ի նա հաւատացեալ` առ նմա թողու զԴրուասպ ոմն պարսիկ զմտերիմ իւր, որ խնամեցեալ էր ընդ նախարարս Վասպուրականի, որում տուեալ էր զաւանն Տատեաւնս հանդերձ ագարակաւքն, եւ զայգին մեծ, յոր մտանէր առուն գետ, հանեալ ի ծովէն Գայլատուայ:
| 62:12 Since the king loved him, he gave him the second rank, which Artavazd used to hold; he entrusted to him the care of the army of the east, and he left with him Druasp. The latter was a Persian friend of his who had become related by marriage to the princes of Vaspurakan and to whom he had given the town of Tateawn with its estates and the great vineyard which is irrigated by the canal that branches out from the lake of Gaylatu:

62:13 Եւ ինքն գնաց զկողմամբք Եկեղեաց, ի յաւանին Չըրմէս հաստատելով զարքունիսն:
| 62:13 He himself sent to the regions of Ekeḷeats’ and established his court in the town of Ch’rmēs:

62:14 Ի հանդարտութեան վարեաց զթագաւորութիւնն ամս քսան եւ մի. եւ մեռաւ ի ճանապարհի ձեան հիւսոյ կալեալ:
| 62:14 He governed the kingdom peaceably for twenty- one years and died on a journey, overwhelmed by northern snow:
