71:1 Առաջին արշաւանք Խոսրովայ յԱսորեստան, յորում համարէր աւգնել Արտաւանայ:

| 71:2 Քանզի յետ սպանանելոյն զԱրտաւան եւ թագաւորելոյն Արտաշրի որդւոյ Սասանայ, երկու ցեղք Պահլաւին, որ Ասպահապետի եւ Սուրենի Պահլաւն անուանին, նախանձ պահելով ընդ թագաւորեալ ցեղին իւրեանց հարազատութեան ազգին, որ է Արտաշէսին` կամաւ յանձն առին թագաւորել Արտաշրի որդւոյ Սասանայ:
| 71:2 After Artashir, son of Sasan, had killed Artavan and gained the throne, two branches of the Pahlav family called Aspahapet and Surēn Pahlav were jealous at the rule of the branch of their own kin, that is, of Artashēs, and willingly accepted the rule of Artashir, son of Sasan:
| 71:3 Այլ մտերմութիւն պահելով առ եղբայրութիւն ազգականութեանն տան Կարենի Պահլաւին` ընդդիմացան պատերազմաւ Արտաշրի որդւոյ Սասանայ:
| 71:3 But the house of Karēn Pahlav, remaining friendly toward their brother and kin, opposed in war Artashir, son of Sasan:
| 71:4 Բայց յառաջագոյն իբրեւ լուաւ զաղմուկ շփոթին թագաւորն Հայոց Խոսրով, դիմեաց յաւգնականութիւն Արտաւանայ, եթէ հնար լիցի աճապարել ապրեցուցանել միայն զԱրտաւան. եւ միջամուխ եղեալ յԱսորեստան` լսէ զբաւթ մահուանն Արտաւանայ, եւ զմիաբանութիւն ամենայն զաւրաց Պարսից եւ նախարարաց, նա եւ զիւրոյ ազգին Պարթեւաց եւ Պահլաւկաց, բայց ի ցեղէն Կարենեան. առ որ հրեշտակս առաքեալ, դառնայ յաշխարհս մեծաւ տրտմութեամբ եւ զկծանաւք:
| 71:4 As soon as Khosrov, king of Armenia, heard of the troubles he set out to aid Artavan, if possible, to arrive in time to rescue at least Artavan. When he entered Assyria, he heard the sad news of Artavan’s death and of the alliance of all the Persian troops and nobles - both of his own family the Parthians and of the Pahlavik’, except for the branch of Karēn. To the latter he sent messengers and then returned to our country in great sadness and regret:
| 71:5 Եւ նոյն հետայն փոյթ ընդ փոյթ ազդ առնէ Փիլիպպոսի կայսեր Հռովմայեցւոց, աւգնականութիւն ի նմանէ խնդրելով:
