| 9:0 The abolition of the Pahlavik kingdom and the rule of the Stahrian:

9:1 Մինչդեռ այսպէս յընդորրութեան կեանս յապահովանայր երկիրս Հայոց, եւ ոչ ուստեք գոյր վտանգ կրել, բայց ընքեանք այլոց հասուցանէին տագնապս որպէս ընթեռնուքն՝ յեղակարծում ժամանակի հասանէ համբաւ մահուն Արտաւանայ, եւ տիրել Պարսից Ստահրացւոյն Արտաշրի Սասանականի:
| 9:1 While the land of Armenia was thus enjoying a tranquil and undisturbed existence menaced by no danger from anywhere, but rather inflicting troubles on others as we read, unexpectedly there arrived the news of Artavan’s death and the domination of Persia by Artashir the Sasanian from Stahr:

9:2 ի կոր կործանման կացեալ Խոսրով մեր թագաւոր, եւ ջանայր առնուլ զվրէժ մահու հարազատին իւրոյ, թագաւորին Արտաւանայ, զոր եւ առնէր իսկ, հասեալ դաւող մահ նորա ի յԱնակայ իւրոյ մերձաւորէ:
| 9:2 Our king Khosrov was struck with dismay and attempted to revenge the death of his blood relative, King Artavan. This indeed he was doing until his treacherous murder by Anak his relative:

9:3 Եւ բնաւ աշխարհս քայքայեալ ցրուեցան՝ յով եւ կարաց աճապարել փախչել այր իւրաքանչիւր. դիմեցին առ կայսրն Վաղէտիանոս, թէ հնար ինչ իցէ առնուլ զվրէժ արեան Խոսրովու եւ ի վերջ նահանջել զբռնակալութիւն Ստահրացոյն. բայց թէպէտ եւ ետ օգնականութիւն Հայոց կայսրն Վաղէտիանոս Փռիւգացի զօրօքն՝ սակայն ոչ խաղաղանայր երկիրս:
| 9:3 Then the country fell apart and everyone scattered, hastily fleeing wherever he could. They applied to the emperor Valerian to see if he could revenge the blood of Khosrov and bring an end to the tyranny of the Stahrian. But although the emperor Valerian gave help to the Armenians with the army of Phrygia, nonetheless the land was not pacified:

9:4 եւ ոչ ոք կարէր կալ յակաստանի, ունել զժառանգութիւն հայրենի, եւ ոչ առ զխաղաղութիւն մինչեւ ի Պռոբոս կայսր, որ արար խաղաղութիւն ընդ Արտաշրի: Աստանօր ոչ է ինձ յայտ թէ զի՞նչ կամ ո՞րպէս դիպեցաւ լինել տոհմին Արծրունեաց, կամ ո՞ւր, կամ զիա՞րդ:
| 9:4 No one was able to live in security, or keep possession of his patrimony; peace did not return until the emperor Probus, who made peace with Artashir. Here I have no indication as to what happened to the Artsruni family, or how, where, or why:

9:5 բայց միայն զազգին շարս ըստ գիւտի աշխատութեանն բաւական համարեցաք յառաջ վարել մինչ ի թագաւորել Տրդատայ, եւ սկիզբն լինել լուսաւորութեան Հայոց աշխարհիս ի ձեռն մեծին Գրիգորի Լուսաւորչին: Եւ այս են ծնունդք Արծրունեաց. ի Բաբգենայ Մուշեղ. Վահան. Ներսէհ. միւս Բաբգէն. Տիրոց:
| 9:5 But we considered it merely sufficient to present the generations of the family as we have labored to discover them, down to the reign of Trdat and the beginning of the illumination of Armenia through the great Gregory the Illuminator. These are the generations of the Artsrunik’ from Babgean: Musheł, Vahan, Nerseh, another Babgēn, Tirots’:
