3:0 Կապումն եւ վտարումն յաշխարհէս իշխանին եւ նախարարացն եւ նոցին ընտանեաց:

3:1 Ընդ աւուրսն ընդ այնոսիկ, մինչ կային ի կապանսն իշխանն եւ նախարարքն իւրաքանչիւր ընտանեօք՝ կազմեալ գունդ զինուորաց եւ ընտիրս այրուձիոց, վառեալ զինու բազում պատրաստութեամբ, եւ զիշխանն Աշոտ եւ զորդի նորա Գրիգոր եւ զՎահան Արծրունի եւ զորդի նորա Գագիկ, որ եւ Ապումրուան կոչէր:
| 3:1 In those days, while the prince and the nobles with their families were in bonds, he [Bugha] formed a detachment of soldiers and elite cavalry, fully armed and equipped, and sent away to Samarra the prince Ashot and his son Grigor, Vahan Artsruni and his son Gagik who was also called Apumruan:

3:2 եւ զՄուշեղ եղբայր Վահանայ եւ զտիկինն Հրանուշ եւ զայլս յազատատոհմէ կապեալ եւ բարձեալ ի վերայ ուղտուց՝ վտարեաց ի Սամառայ, եւ եդեալ ի ներքոյ արգոբայ տաղաւարաց եւ յղեաց ընդ կողմն Պարսից, ճանապարհ արարեալ ընդ Ատրպատական, կասկածելով թէ գուցէ Գուրգէն եւ կամ մի ոք ի տոհմէն Արծրունեաց եւ նոցին ազատաց ի կորովացն Վասպուրական հեծելոցն հասանիցէ ի վերայ եւ թափիցէ զնա ի զօրացն եւ հանցէ ի ձեռաց իմոց:
| 3:2 Musheł the brother of Vahan and the princess Hranush, and others of the nobility, bound and set on camels under tent- like canopies. He sent them to Persia, travelling via Atrpatakan, fearful lest perhaps Gurgēn or some other member of the Artsruni family and their nobles, the mighty horsemen of Vaspurakan, “ might catch up with them, snatch them away from the troops, and deliver him from my hands:

3:3 Եւ եղեւ իբրեւ եհաս իշխանն յարքունիսն՝ ետ կապել զոտս նոցա կրկին շղթայիւք եւ դնել ի բանտի. եւ հրամայեաց զինուց վառելոց զինուորաց պահել զնա՝ մինչ ինքն նստցի յատենի եւ մուծցէ զնոսա ի դատաստան հարցափորձի եւ քննութեան վարուցն, զոր կուտեալ եդեալ էին ի վերայ իշխանին:
| 3:3 When the prince reached the court, he [the caliph] had his feet bound with double chains and had him put in prison. He ordered armed soldiers to guard him until he might sit in tribunal and bring them to a judicial interrogation and examination of the [charges] concerning his conduct which had been heaped up against the prince:

3:4 Եւ իւր հազարապետին գրեալ եւ ծանուցեալ էր արքայի, զոր ինչ գործեաց ցայն վայր ժամանակի:
