5:0 Վասն բառնալոյ սգոյն մեծի, խաղաղացուցանելոյ արքայի զաշխարհս, եւ որ ինչ յաղագս Յուսփայ որդւոյ Ապուսաճայ:
| 5:0 About the end of the great mourning; the king’s pacification of the land; and events concerning Yusup’ son of Apusach:

5:1 Իսկ զկնի բառնալոյ սգոյն մեծի՝ խաղաղացուցանէ թագաւորն զաշխարհն ի մրմռեալ պատերազմացն Պարսից եւ Սեւորդւոցն Հագարու որ զկողմամբք լերանցն:
| 5:1 Now after the end of the great mourning, the king pacified the land from the wars stirred up by the Persians and the Sevordik’ of Hagar, who [inhabited] the mountainous regions:

5:2 Ընդ այնր ժամանակս դեռ եւս բռնակալութեամբ տիրէր Պարսից եւ Հայոց Յուսփ որդին Ապուսաճայ, որ ոչ կարացեալ հանդուրժել քաջութեան եւ իմաստութեանն արքայի, թողեալ զգազանաբարոյ գործս չարութեան՝ դառնայ ի խաղաղութիւն եւ ի սէր կատարման. եւ տայ ի ձեռն արքայի զաշխարհս Հայոց եւ Վրաց, եւ ուխտ խաղաղութեան եդեալ գնայ յերկիրն Պարսից:
| 5:2 At that time Yusup’, son of Apusach, was still ruling tyranically over the Persians and Armenians. Unable to resist the valour and wisdom of the king, he abandoned his ferocious evil deeds and turned to peace and real friendship. He entrusted to the king the lands of Armenia and Georgia, and having made [with him] a peace treaty, he went to Persia:

5:3 Եւ մինչդեռ կամէր զբօսնուլ ի կարծեալն իւրումն խաղաղութեան՝ վաղվաղակի գան առ նա հրեշտակք արքունի, հրաման տալով զի երթեալ տայցէ պատերազմ ընդ հարաւային զօրացն, որք ելեալ էին ի վերայ Բաբելովնի եւ սահմանաց նորա:
| 5:3 While he was planning to enjoy a peaceful existence, suddenly royal messengers arrived with orders that he should go to wage war against the army of the South, which had marched to attack Babylon and its territory:

5:4 Եւ նորա գնացեալ անթիւ բազմութեամբ զօրու՝ թողու ոստիկան Պարսից զմի յիւրոց հոմանեաց, որում անուն էր Փէթք. եւ ինքն հասեալ ի դուռն արքունի՝ առնու եւ անտի եւս զօրս բազումս յօգնականութիւն. եւ գան պատահեն միմեանց յՈսիտ աշխարհի, եւ ի ճակատելն գունդ առ գունդ՝ հարկանին իսպառ զօրքն Յուսփայ, ձերբակալ արարեալ եւ զինքն. եւ զկնի սակաւ ժամանակի սպանանի, ոչ գիտեմ ո՛րպիսում պատահեալ վիճակի մահու:
| 5:4 He set off with a numberless host of troops, leaving as prefect of Persia one of his favourites named P’et’k’. On reaching the royal palace, he took many more troops as reinforcement. They came across each other in the land of Osit; when the armies joined battle, Yusup’s troops were completely defeated and he himself captured. A little later he was killed, but I do not know what sort of death befell him:
