5:101 ’To eat meat, ’ they say, ’is not a sin, ’ yet they themselves do not like to eat meat. ’It is right to marry, ’ but they themselves do not wish even to look at a woman. ’It is a great sin, ’ they say, ’to accumulate riches, ’ but they praise poverty excessively:
| 5:101 Միս ուտել, ասեն, ոչ են մեղք», եւ ինքեանք ուտել ոչ կամին. « Կին առնել արժան է», բայց ինքեանք եւ հայել ի նա ոչ կամին. « Կարասի որ ժողովէ, ասեն, մեղք են յոյժ», բայց զաղքատութիւն առաւել քան զյոյժ գովեն:

5:102 They honor misfortune and despise success; they mock the name of fortune and greatly scorn glory. They love simplicity of clothing, and honor the dishonorable more than the honorable. They praise death and condemn life. They dishonor the births of men and praise childlessness:
| 5:102 Յարգեն զթշուառութիւն, եւ պարսաւեն զյաջողուածս. ծաղր առնեն զանուն բախտի, եւ զփառաւորութիւն յոյժ այպանեն. սիրեն զանշքութիւն հանդերձից, եւ յարգեն զանարգս քան զպատուականս. գովեն զմահ եւ պարսաւեն զկեանս. անարգեն զծնունդս մարդոյ եւ գովեն զանորդութիւն:

5:103 And if people were to listen to them and not approach their wives, the end of the world would soon arrive:
| 5:103 Եւ եթէ լսէ ոք դոցա եւ ի կանայս ոչ մերձենան, աշխարհի վախճան վաղվաղակի հասանէ:
|
5:104 But I did not wish to put all the details in writing for you, because there are many other things that they say:
| 5:104 Այլ ես ոչ կամեցայ զամենայն ըստ մասանց ընդ գրով արկանել առ ձեզ. զի բազում այլ ինչ է, զոր խաւսին դոքա:

5:105 But what is even worse than what we have just written, they preach that God was crucified by men, that he died and was buried, then rose and ascended to heaven:
| 5:105 Որ չարագոյն եւս է քան զոր գրեցաքդ, զԱստուած ի խաչ ելեալ ի մարդկանէ քարոզեն, եւ զնոյն մեռեալ եւ թաղեալ, եւ ապա յարուցեալ եւ վերացեալ յերկինս:

5:106 Should you yourselves then not have made a judgment concerning such unworthy doctrines:
| 5:106 Ո՞չ ահա ձեզէն իսկ արժան էր անդէն դատաստան առնել վասն այդպիսի անարժան ուսմանց:
|
5:107 Demons, who are evil, are not seized and tortured by men, let alone God, the Creator of all creatures. This is shameful for you to say, and these words are most incredible to us:
| 5:107 Դեւք որ չարք են, ոչ ըմբռնին եւ տանջին ի մարդկանէ, թո՛ղ թէ Աստուած արարիչ ամենայն արարածոց. զոր ձեզ ամաւթ է ասել, եւ մեզ կարի անհաւատալի բանք:

5:108 So, there are two possibilities before you: either answer this letter word for word, or come to court and appear before the great assembly:
| 5:108 Արդ երկու իրք կան առաջի ձեր. կամ արարէք բան առ բան նամակիդ պատասխանի, եւ կամ արիք ի Դուռն եկայք, եւ յանդիման լերուք մեծի հրապարակին:
