5:101 Those who were inside the general’s quarters stood up, and raising their voices in unison to God note: “O Lord who knows the hearts of all, you have no need of witness from men; if we have intentionally strayed from you, you yourself know that well. Today judge us according to our sins:
| 5:101 Իսկ որք էին ի ներքս ի վանս սպարապետին՝ յոտն կացին, միաբան համբարձին զձայնս իւրեանց առ Աստուած եւ ասեն. « Դու Տէր սրտագէտ ամենեցուն, ոչ ինչ պիտի քեզ վկայութիւն ի մարդկանէ. եթէ խոտորեալ իցեմք ի քէն սրտի մտաւք, զայն դու ինքնին քաջ գիտես. այսաւր իսկ դատեա զմեզ ըստ մեղաց մերոց:

5:102 But if we stand firm in the covenant of this Holy Gospel, you Lord be our helper today and give the enemies of truth into our hands that we may deal with them according to our will:
| 5:102 Ապա եթէ հաստատուն կամք յուխտի սուրբ աւետարանիս, դո՛ւ Տէր, լեր մեր աւգնական այսաւր, եւ տուր զթշնամիսն ճշմարտութեան ի ձեռս մեր, զի արասցուք ընդ նոսա ըստ կամաց մերոց:

5:103 When they had said this, they all put their heads to the ground and were blessed with the Gospel by the bishops:
| 5:103 Զայս իբրեւ ասացին, ամենեքեան զգլուխ զգետնի հարկանէին, եւ ողջունեցան յաւետարանէն եւ յեպիսկոպոսացն:

5:104 But one of the princes who was present and took part in their council did not join them in their great act of witness. straightaway he was stoned by them on the spot, and great fear fell on all:
| 5:104 Իսկ մի ոմն ի նախարարացն որ անդր դիպեցաւ, էր ի նոցա խորհրդի, եւ ոչ միաբանեաց ընդ նոսա ի մեծ վկայութիւնն. եւ անդէն առ ժամայն ի նոցունց ի տեղւոջն քարկոծեցաւ, եւ ահ մեծ անկաւ ի վերայ ամենեցուն:

5:105 Then they all burst into such a raging fury that the bowels of all the onlookers trembled; they considered as naught the king’s gifts and trampled underfoot his fearsome commands:
| 5:105 Յայնժամ ամենեքեան ի նախանձ բարկութեան բրդեցան, մինչեւ ամենայն տեսողացն երիկամունքն դողային, որք առ ոչինչ համարեցան զպարգեւս արքունի, եւ առ ոտն հարին զհրամանս ահագինս:

5:106 They ran quickly to their weapons and spent the entire night arming and organizing. At dawn they divided their force into three parts and fell on the enemies’ army:
| 5:106 Ընթացան վաղվաղակի ի զէնս իւրեանց, վառեցան կազմեցան զգիշերն ամենայն, եւ ընդ ծագել արեգականն զգունդն յերիս մասունս բաժանեալ ի բանակն արկանէին:

5:107 The first group from the east, the second group from the west, and the third group from the north surrounded and fenced in the host of the Persians’ army. Many they killed, and even more notable warriors they captured and threw into strong prisons under their own command:
| 5:107 Գունդն առաջին յարեւելից կուսէ, եւ գունդն երկրորդ յարեւմտից կողմանէ, եւ գունդն երրորդ ի հիւսիսոյ կողմանէ, շուրջանակի ի մէջ առեալ փակեցին զբազմութիւն բանակին. եւ զբազումս կոտորեցին, եւ զեւս բազմագոյնս կապեցին զերեւելի մարդիկ, եւ արկին ի բերդս ամուրս ընդ իւրեանց իշխանութեամբ:

5:108 Gathering to one place the plunder and booty of the army they guarded them as if at the king’s command:
| 5:108 Եւ զառ եւ զապուռ եւ զաւար բանակին ի մի վայր ժողովեալ պահէին իբր հրամանաւ արքունի:
|
5:109 When they arrested the marzpan he was for joining them with an oath to remain firm in the covenant; he repented of his earlier falling away from them:
| 5:109 Իսկ զմարզպանն ձերբակալ արարեալ, եւ միաբանէր ընդ նոսա երդմամբ՝ հաստատուն կալ յուխտին, զղջանայր զառաջին քակումն ի նոցանէ:

5:110 He fell in penitence at the feet of the holy bishops and tearfully begged that he should not be rejected and cast from them:
| 5:110 Անկանէր ապաշխարութեամբ յոտս սուրբ եպիսկոպոսացն, եւ աղաչէր խաղապատելով՝ զի մի՛ մերժեալ ընկեսցի առ ի նոցանէ:

5:111 Two and three times he repeated an inviolable oath on the Holy Gospel before them all; he put it in writing, sealed it, and bound it to the Gospel. He begged that it be left to God to seek vengeance and that they not take it upon themselves as men to kill him:
| 5:111 Կրկնէր եւ երեքկնէր զանսուտ երդումն առաջի բազմութեանն ի սուրբ աւետարանն, գրէր եւ կնքէր զերդումն եւ կապէր զաւետարանէն. եւ աղաչէր՝ զի յԱստուծոյ խնդրեսցի վրէժխնդրութիւնն, եւ մի՛ նոքա մարդկաբար սատակեսցեն զնա:

5:112 Now although they well knew his deceitful hypocrisy and that he would falsely return to his old error, they were in no way anxious to seize him because of his former transgression, but they left his condemnation to the Holy Gospel:
| 5:112 Իսկ նոքա թէպէտ եւ հաստատեալ գիտէին զնենգաւոր կեղծաւորութիւն նորա, եթէ խաբէութեամբ դառնայ անդրէն ի հին մոլորութիւնն, ոչ ինչ փոյթ առնէին ձեռն արկանել ի նա վասն առաջին յանցանացն, այլ սուրբ աւետարանին թողին ի դատապարտութիւն:

5:113 Those who had come to plunder the holy treasures of the church unwillingly surrendered themselves and their plunder to the holy bishops and the entire army. The king’s command was rendered null and void:
| 5:113 Իսկ որք եկեալ էին յաւարի առնուլ զսուրբ գանձս եկեղեցւոյն, ակամայ եդին զանձինս եւ զաւար իւրեանց առաջի սուրբ եպիսկոպոսացն եւ ամենայն զաւրացն. եւ եղծաւ ապականեցաւ հրաման թագաւորին:

5:114 Having succeeded by the power of God, men, women, and all the common people cried out in thanks: “We are ready for persecution and death and every affliction and torture for the sake of the holy churches which our forefathers entrusted to us by the power of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, whereby we were reborn to the one hope of faith by baptism in Christ Jesus. In the same fashion we wish to renew ourselves by torments and blood:
| 5:114 Եւ յաջողեալք զաւրութեամբն Աստուծոյ՝ աղաղակէին եւ ասէին գոհանալով արք եւ կանայք եւ ամենայն ռամիկ բազմութիւնն. « Պատրաստ եմք ի հալածանս եւ ի մահ եւ յամենայն նեղութիւնս եւ ի չարչարանս վասն սուրբ եկեղեցեաց, զոր աւանդեցին հարքն մեր առաջինք՝ զաւրութեամբ գալստեան Տեառն մերոյ Յիսուսի Քրիստոսի, որով վերստին ծնաք ի մի յոյս հաւատոցն մկրտութեամբ ի Քրիստոս Յիսուս. ըստ նմին նմանութեան կամիմք չարչարանաւք եւ արեամբ նորոգել զանձինս:

5:115 For we recognize the Holy Gospel as our Father, and the apostolic Catholic church as Mother. Let no evil partition come between us to separate us from her:
| 5:115 Քանզի հայր մեր զսուրբ աւետարանն գիտեմք, եւ մայր՝ զառաքելական եկեղեցի կաթողիկէ. մի՛ ոք չար անջրպետի մէջ անկեալ՝ զմեզ քակեսցէ ի սմանէ:

5:116 Thenceforth the lord seemed no greater than the servant, or the pampered noble than the rough villager, and no one was behind another in valor:
| 5:116 Ոչ երեւէր այնուհետեւ առաւել տէր քան զծառայ, եւ ոչ ազատ փափկացեալ քան զգեղջուկ վշտացեալ, եւ ոչ ոք քան զոք նուաղեալ ի յարութենէ:

5:117 One willing heart was shown by all—men and women, old and young, and all those united in Christ:
| 5:117 Մի սիրտ յաւժարութեան ամենեցուն արանց եւ կանանց, ծերոց եւ տղայոց եւ ամենայն միաբանելոց ի Քրիստոս:
|
5:118 For all together put on the same armor and donned the same breastplate of faith in Christ’s command; with one belt of truth men and women girded their waists:
| 5:118 Քանզի առ հասարակ զմի զինուորութիւն զինուորեցան եւ զմի ագան զրահս հաւատոց պատուիրանին Քրիստոսի. միով գաւտեաւ ճշմարտութեան պնդեցին զմէջս արք եւ կանայք:

5:119 Thenceforth gold was cast away, no one took silver for himself, and without avarice they despised and disparaged the honorable garments worn for adornment and distinction:
| 5:119 Ընկեցեալ կայր այնուհետեւ ոսկի, եւ ոչ ոք առնոյր իւր առանձինն արծաթ, եւ արհամարհեալ առանց ագահութեան, անարգեալ պատուական հանդերձք առ ի զարդս մեծարանաց:

5:120 Likewise, each one’s possessions were accounted as nothing in the eyes of their possessors:
| 5:120 Նա՝ իւրաքանչիւր ստացուածք ոչ ինչ համարէին յաչս ստացողաց իւրեանց:
|
5:121 They regarded themselves as dead corpses, and they dug each one his own grave. Their lives were reckoned as death, and their death as certain life:
| 5:121 Տեսանէին զանձինս իւրեանց իբրեւ զմեռեալ դիակունս, եւ զիւրաքանչիւր գերեզմանս ինքեանք փորէին, եւ կեանք իւրեանց ի մահ համարեալ էին, եւ մահք իւրեանց անշուշտ կեանք:

5:122 But this acclamation was continuously voiced: “Let us only die valiantly, let us merely inherit fame and spirit, so that Christ may be alive in us; it is for him easy to renew again from dust both us and all those who fell asleep before, and to recompense each one according to his deeds:
| 5:122 Բայց այս բարբառ ստէպ ստէպ ընթանայր. « Քաջութեամբ միայն մեռցուք, զանուն եւ զոգիս եւեթ ժառանգեսցուք, զի կենդանի իցէ ի մեզ Քրիստոս, որում դիւրին է միւսանգամ նորոգել զմեզ ի հողոյ եւ զամենայն զյառաջագոյն զննջեցեալսն, եւ հատուցանել իւրաքանչիւր ըստ գործս իւրեանց:

5:123 Voicing these and more similar arguments, consoling themselves and one another, once more the soldiers prepared their arms. The prayerful were unceasing in their prayers, and those fasting assiduous in their fasts:
| 5:123 Զայս եւ առաւել քան զսոյնս խաւսելով, եւ մխիթարելով զանձինս եւ զմիմեանս, դարձեալ միւսանգամ զինուորքն պատրաստեցին զզէնս իւրեանց, եւ աղաւթականքն անդադար լինէին յաղաւթսն իւրեանց, եւ պահողքն ճգնէին ի պահս իւրեանց:

5:124 The voices of the ministers ceased not day and night from reciting the holy psalms. The readers of the divine Scriptures never paused at any hour, neither did the expounders of the consolation of heavenly teaching:
| 5:124 Ձայնք պաշտաւնէիցն ի տուէ եւ ի գիշերի անհատ էին ի սուրբ սաղմոսսն. ընթերցուածք աստուածային կտակարանացն ոչ երբէք առնուին դադարումն յամենայն ժամ. սոյնպէս եւ մեկնիչքն ի մխիթարութիւն երկնաւոր վարդապետութեանն:

5:125 Then once more they attacked the fortresses and towns which the Persians held in various strong places in the country. They destroyed and razed their dwellings:
| 5:125 Յայնմ ժամանակի դարձեալ յարձակեցան ի վերայ բերդիցն եւ աւանաց, զոր ունէին Պարսիկքն ի տեղիս տեղիս, յամրոցս աշխարհին. տապալէին քանդէին զբնակութիւն նոցա:
